Donald Trump is on track to win re-election to the presidency of the United States.

Yes, despite Russiagate, despite ****holegate and despite whatever gate he blunders through next. Despite approval ratings that would make Nixon weep. Despite his mind-numbing political misjudgments—defending accused pedophiles, for example—and the endless, unnecessary daily drama. Trump is winning. It is actually happening, people. And if there are those who want to stop it—and there are of course millions—they need to know what they are up against. It’s a lot more than they overconfidently think.

The incumbent always has an advantage with a solid voting block in the bag. If the Dems can’t find a candidate to rally behind than it will be split between Dems and independent which will allow trump to win.

I think Trump won because he was an unknown. He had the advantage of criticizing everyone else for what they had done politically. He had no political record to criticize.

This time things are different. Trump has a terrible record. There is just a lot to criticize about Trump's chaotic presidency so far.

If there was an election tomorrow, Trump would be voted out in a landslide. It's impossible to predict what things will be like years into the future.

Presently, I think it's unlikely that Trump survives the Mueller investigation. And even if he survives the massive scandal when all the facts are released, it will politically damage him.

My guess is he loses in the primaries. He won while saying career politicians could not get things done. He is finding that you can't negotiate in Washington as you can in business. The other side has a vested interest in voting against anything you are for. So his main selling point is gone and all he has left is a lot of his trash talking etc.

Someone with similar views will take him out with a softer tone. Public is tiring of his constant attacks IMO.

Now, that would really send a strong message. When was the last time a sitting president lost his party's primary?

You could go back to LBJ who decided not to even run.

Not sure but Johnson possibly decided not to run again, as he could lose in the Primaries against Bobbie Kennedy.

I will most likely vote for him this time... and I didn't the first time. I wonder if there will be a lot of people like me.

If he is right - this country will soon be added to the Trump Shi%#ole list.

Could be. It could be too that he heard the protesters chanting, "Hey, hey. LBJ, how many kids did you kill today?" That sort of thing can get to you, especially if you're not sure of the answer.
