Right now the GOP in congress are once again looking at allowing insurance companies to use pre-existing conditions to keep from having to insure higher risk patients. Then they will do as Ryan has wanted to do for years, change Medicare to a voucher system where those on Medicare will have to buy insurance from private companies with the limited amount of money provided by vouchers. Since a very high percentage of those over 65 have some form of pre-existing conditions, most won't be either able to even buy a policy or afford one if offered. TO give you an idea of what pre-existing conditions can cover I was able to retire at 58. My problem was I couldn't get health insurance. I was healthy and walked 5 or more miles a day, but like many of my generation I had slightly high levels of blood pressure and cholesterol, 135 over 85 and 190 without meds. I had no heart disease and still don't at 72. When I applied for insurance I was told I was high risk and neither the plan I applied for or any other insurance company would insure me. I had to find a temp job that paid for health insurance. If so minor a problem made me high risk, I would be without a doubt say that most people over 65 would be unable to buy insurance no matter what the cost.

Lots of speculation here. Any proof? Or is this just a conspiracy theory?

I've heard the "Republicans want to take away your social security/medicare" line so many times throughout my life that it's become nothing more than a silly cliché.

Next we'll be hearing about how seniors will be forced to eat cat food.

It looks to me like retiring at 58 was not something you really could afford. You should have stayed working till you were able to get a medicare supplement and continued insurance. If you knew at 58 that you could not get insurance before you declared yourself retired, then I don't have much sympathy for you.

It's not as if this is a secret:

Sen. Rubio tells a secret: After giving a tax cut to the rich, GOP will cut Social Security and Medicare

Be careful what you wish for.

Yes, he should just go die.

No way. Cat food is over 5 dollars per pound! Chicken is cheaper.

Here is what Rubio said, "instituting structural changes to Social Security and Medicare for the future."

Literally everyone from both sides has said this. SS and Medicare aren’t sustainable on thier own.

So go peddle your hyperbolic nonsense elseware

Well at least someone is talking about health care.

Yes, I could afford to retire, What I couldn't get at any price according to the insurance companies was health insurance.

What cat food are you buying?

Dog food is over 3 dollars per pound. Canned is higher.

That's right. In America, we pay more for food for our pets than we do for our children.

Slow anti-Trump news day? Have you forgotten, the left has been saying for decades that Republicans will take the elderly's social security away? Democrats don't have a message other than lying false scare tactics. That's why Hillary lost. She had no message other than, "Me bad. Trump worse" and "I have no plan but you won't like Trump's plan".

GOP'ers have to kick granny out of her house, make her eat Alpo, then throw her off a cliff.

I was kicked off of Healthcare by the democrats in 2013 by way of Obamacare. They canceled by existing policy and told me I would have to buy a policy 300% more expensive with a 500% increase in the deductible. I fled to VA Care.

Conspiracy theory?

The administration has already moved to weaken protections for pre-existing conditions. And the Medicare stuff has been passed by the GOP House multiple times. It's what vaulted its chief proponent, formerly the Budget Committee chair, to prominence within the party and thus is the primary reason he holds the Speaker's gavel today and controls the chamber's agenda.

Do you have anything that is not a blog?

Right now the kookers are switched on over guns. DJT will have to take a backseat for a few days.

But yeah, I've heard these nutburger lines from the kooker left for decades. Completely unbelievable to the normal person, but the left loves to use fear on the elderly anyway. Fear, lies, deceit, is really their only message. How truly evil is that? I mean, scaring old people?

Oh well, the ends justify the means, I suppose.

we have all paid into these programs for our entire careers, and it's time to vote against anyone who won't keep up their end of the deal.

IT is the same plan they have been pushing and Ryan has stated he wants a voucher system, meaning the scenario is correct, there are only a few reasons that voters would show up in huge numbers to vote a Party out of power, believe me this Is one of those few issues, Rebubs are often their own worst enemy.

I learned a saying about 40 years ago, I think:

Failing to plan is planning to fail.

If he decided to do something and later discovered that he was wrong about the most critically pivotal component in his planning, that indicates a problem in the planning.

I'm gong to turn 65 in June and understand that insurance coverage for me will be linked to medicare or my employer and not available from Medicare until that milestone.

This is not a secret. It is widely advertised and known by almost everyone.

To be fair, though, our pets do love us more.
