Parkland shooting could be 'tipping point' in 2018 races

Gun violence is gun violence...whether it's at a school in Florida or on the streets of Chicago. Ask the gun violence victims in Chicago how gun laws are helping protect them. Fact is, taking down the NRA, violating the Constitution by enacting more gun laws won't save a single life.

But what COULD have prevented the deaths of those children in Florida was citizens in Broward County opposing the policies of their school board and Sheriff that allowed the murderer to avoid a criminal record that would have prevented him from buying a firearm. No laws were needed...just applying existing laws.

Those media darlings aren't talking about their own County. They are wasting their time snarking about state and national politicians and the NRA.

The post is challenging to stoop to meet given its reckless and sweeping claims and its standard rightwing fare of throwing in the Chicago kitchen sink as often and as frequently as possible in whatever the thread topic. It could seem the post wrote itself.

So you'd have to provide the specifics of any Broward County policies (or programs) that allowed or enabled the massacre to occur. Your reference to violating the Constitution is NRA OTT. Indeed, citizens who can't read are the last people to listen to about the Constitution. Further, the statement "those media darlings aren't talking about their own country" ignores the numerous school shooting massacres in the United States over the past 20 years and more. I'd ask what country the rightwhinge has been in during this time but never mind, at least for the moment. And worst of all, it is the grotesque likelihood we haven't yet had the last school shooting massacre to include the remaining months of 2018 that lie immediately before us as a nation.

Not to mention the fact that these kids are going to get tired of skipping school to do media interviews. Heck, in a couple months they are going to be spending all their free time at the beach.

Umm...right. They will have completely forgotten about all 17 of their classmates who were killed. Sure, you bet.

The right is not interested is stopping or reducing school shootings- that much is clear. All they can do is attack the kids who are standing up to them.

Attacking kids- sick, but what do you expect from desperate people who won't budge an inch to make things better?

Are you saying that kids are immune to any criticism? If these same kids were advocating gun rights coukd you honestly say you wouldn't criticize their stance? Also what evidence do you have that we arent interested in stopping mass shootings?

Yes I agree. However criticizing a view they hold is in no way attacking them.

I get the sense that the Parkland massacre/#NeverAgain could very well be a political tipping point. During a mesmerizing Town Hall meeting on CNN last night, the mother of the slain Geography teacher asked Sen. Marco Rubio point blank is he plans to continue accepting campaign money from the NRA. After trying to dance around it for a bit, but then again pressed by the mother to answer the question, Rubio said yes and looked very uncomfortable. It was an electrifying moment in the auditorium that was palpable.

The American population has the attention span of a 4yr old. By election time they will not even remember, but nice try. Perhaps in a few decades you may succeed in disarming a large part of America to the delight of the Russians and the Chinese......

It is not the fault of guns, it is the fault of the mentally ill people whom the liberals turned out of the mental institution and on to the streets to procreate and spread mental illness throughout the population.

So you are saying that mass murder is the act of a sane person? Let's see some corroboration on that viewpoint. Perhaps you can come up with a cartoon since that seems to be where you get your facts from.....

It's the act of a Sapiens person. All you have to do is slaughter the other males, then the females instinctively want to be impregnated, when they're ovulating. That's programmed into all your brains.

That's why people don't want to let go of their sexy guns. It's not about self defence, it's about the fight for the mating rights. It's about the c*nt in heat not wanting to be f*cked, if you don't have the capacity for butchering the other males. All war is about sex, from Helen of Troy of Eva Braun. Why do you think it's almost exclusively boys taking them guns to school mates? It's an ethological need to win the ***** that goes back 10 million years; 10,000 years of agriculture desperately trying to keep the peace has no chance in the face of primale human mating behavior.

That's why them guns have to be restricted, as fast as f-cking possible. 'Cause you're all programmed with the desire to see blood before you further your genes to the next generation. We make war before we make love.

Maybe it's just me (also a gun owner), but I can't see the Democrats just allowing this issue to simply fade away. It's too dynamic and it effects practically everyone if we consider the extended family.

Also, Trump's initiative to arm grammar/secondary school teachers, (20%-30% as he suggested = ~1,000,000 teachers) seems like pie in the sky plus the idea is getting negative feedback from teacher orgs.

the truth is.. that if the democrats push this issue.. the democrats are probably not going to pick up as many seats in congress in the mid terms that they would have if they had left gun control alone.

Gun control is the democrats third rail.. and they look like they are going to grab it hard.

You should seek professional help. You think psychopathic behavior is normal human nature. That is the definition of mental instability.

It's buried in there in all of you. You're all programmed with it. That's what the old Hebrews meant with Original Sin.

Like I said, seek professional help...

LOL. The 2016 election was about the second amendment and an open spot on the Supreme Court. Most Republicans are pro gun ownership and rights and the majority of Democrats are as well. The midterms might very well be a referendum on Trump and several different issues but it won't be a referendum on gun control.
