Florida Student Activists Want to 'Dismantle' NRA; Trump Is 'Disgusting'; FBI Gets a Pass

The FBI failed to investigate warnings about the Florida school shooter, but never mind that. And the National Rifle Association has no control over school shootings, but never mind that, either.

Two newly minted gun control activists from Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida are defending the FBI, while demanding that NRA "child murderers" dismantle and disband. And they have declined an invitation to discuss their concerns with President Donald Trump, whom they call "disgusting."

What vile, repulsive, arrogant, ignorant, wannabe Marxist little twits with no respect for the Constitution they are. Put them in power and expect gulags everywhere the next day. Please read the article; they are truly repulsive excuses for humanity.

More importantly...their local elected Sheriff failed to stop this guy in spite of 39 visits to the killer's house.

Who is paying for their chartered buses meals and hotels? Is anyone going to ask that obvious question?

It is quite possible to greatly enhance school security without banning guns or getting rid of the NRA. Perhaps these kids should visit the courthouse, police station or Governor's mansion and observe what security their government is fully capable of providing for themselves.

I totally agree with you. I don't agree with what they are saying. But I surely understand why they're saying it, and I think you do too, if I've been reading you right.

But there's better places than a volsrock thread to have this conversation. To suggest that they are "vile, repulsive, arrogant, ignorant, wannabe Marxist little twits" simply because they have had enough of their schools getting shot up, with things getting worse not better through the years. I don't expect rational at this point, I expect desperate. And I'm willing to listen...it's their blood on the pavement, on the walls, I think they paid a high enough price to be part of the discussion.

Discussion is fine but they are demanding a solution that will not work, avoids the actual problem, and erodes civil liberties and the Constitution. 60 years ago more people owned guns than they do today and we did not have mass school shootings all the time. Something changed and it was not the gun.

These students should be demanding that their safety be paramount. Every teacher should be a trained in gun safety and marksmanship before receiving a credential and then carry concealed on the job. Imagine, women teachers would have to wear tasteful outfits that hide their holster - none of this stuff that shows skin like they are at the beach instead of teaching kids English or history.

I agree - poking holes in their message is far better than mocking the messengers. The sad fact is that someone is funding these "grass roots" protest kids and is likely being quite selective in which ideas get put forth as "worthy" of their financial (and media) support.

Furthermore, instead of dismantling the NRA, the students should invite the NRA to their school and participate in gun safety and orientation courses. Make them mandatory for graduation. That will demystify and remove the taboo on guns and give the students a real education - instead of all the cultural Marxist crap they are spoon fed daily.

Only if the folks entering are carefully checked - they don't rely on signs alone like "gun free" schools or bars do.

Your response is to demand we do something about illegal immigrants in this country. You politicize crimes committed by immigrants.

But here? Oh, now is not the time to talk about gun control!

Tell me what the waiting period on gun control discussions is. When is it acceptable for me to bring it up?

You want to condemn all 19 years olds? What would be your arbitrary age cut-off? 21? 25? 30? When a 30 year old misuses an AR-15 are you going to raise it to 35?

It isn't the AR-15, it is not the age, it is the brain inside the skull of Nikolas Cruz that did this.
 
Why are they not screaming and demanding answers from the sheriff, the local judge, and the whole school board. They all failed....along with the FBI.

The problem is that we should all have an expectation of an informed opinion, not one based on ignorance and emotion. They can say what they want, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't call them out for being so wrong. I think that the terms used in the OP are just as wrong as the approach taken by these kids, since both are based on ignorance and emotion instead of facts and reason.
 
These school shootings always happen in public schools, Lets ban public schools!
 
Cruz took Uber to the school. Let's ban Uber. It is an assault ride!

Courthouses aren't gun free. They just tightly control who has guns, tightly control access to the courthouse and the fact that trying to commit an act of violence in them will result in the perpetrator getting dropped (with the appropriate level of force) on the spot is well known.

Perhaps they don't want a prison made of their schools. The NRA gun manufacturers association needs to be exposed for what it is too.
