This is just a little message I’d like to put out there. So the Florida shooting happened, killing 17 people, and making it one of the most deadly mass shootings in modern history. It’s sad that this kind of stuff happens. And I’ve seen some of the videos that the students in the school took, and they broke my ****ing heart. I couldn't even imagine how horrifying it is being in such a terrible situation.

But what happens almost immediately after? Everyone else starts pointing fingers at each other. You had plenty of left-leaning individuals say “the blood’s on the Republican’s hands because of their support of lax gun control laws!”. And you had plenty of right-leaning individuals say “the blood's on the Democrat’s hands because of gun control and gun-free zones!” It’s like the only reason some people care about this, is just to use this tragedy for their own stupid political agenda. Well, I say stop. This useless bickering has never solved a damned thing. We need to stop dividing ourselves by left and right, as if we all don’t live in the same ****ing country.

The voice of reason often comes from the millennials. Excellent post, Gov.

It won't work, but it's still an excellent post. Exactly as I feel and what I've been saying for the last few days.

Thanks. And I know it won't. I just wanted to get it out there.

Great post and Its ONE of the reasons im an independent. While NORMAL people right, left and center understand common sense, logic, opinion vs fact and are fine with disagreeing its the extremest that get the attention unfortunately. thats what sells!

Whats even more sad is those nutters dont even see that they are part of the problem, they are really just a new and different version of bloods and crips. Gang wars based on NOTHING but uneducated, biased, bigoted, blind, self harming allegiance for a false sense of power and damaging finical schemes that hurt us all.

The blame is not for lack of passing a NICS BGC at a FFL dealer. The blame is for having multiple "see something, say something" reports that resulted in the, all too ususal, we (the government "experts") lack any legal means of stopping this obviously "disturbed" person from having any meaningful government interferance directed their way. This was extended to the the charges not brought for multiple counts of attempted murder and, of course, violating the (useless?) "gun free zone" law.

Many (if not most) agree in hindsight that ample "red flags" were presented and simply ignored by our "heroes". It seems that rather than cause a hard look at what went wrong the majority of calls are to give the (ineffective and lazy?) government "experts" more money and power. Basically the idea of most of these "wise beyond their years" stundent "activists" is to reward government failure by giving those very same government agents more "resources" and the ability to apply their (not very?) sage personal judgements to an ever wider swath of the "non-criminal" population.

We're really going to play the "both sides share the blame" game?

One side is putting up solutions, the other side is complaining they'll have no "freedumb" and "liberteh" if they can't buy a Child Killer 6000 rifle that fires 400 bullets a minute and has cut funding for mental health.

Quit bending over backwards to try and be "balanced".

I disagree.

People are IMMEDIATELY looking for solutions to this horrific problem.

It's normal. We want to FIX this.

Trouble is, our solutions are diametrically opposed......and set in stone.

The real problem is one of polarization........honest and legitimate and total polarization.

I see no solution. I'm not giving up my guns and the gun-haters are not going to quit their vendetta against me.

I agree with many of your posts but only partially with this one. I think mainly what is happening now is authentic rage against the violence and at the political and social impotence to stop it, rather than an exercise of different agendas. The dam is breaking, possibly it's breaking, in the way the dam just broke for sexual harassment. And kids are leading the way. It's something new, and we need to embrace it.

I'm not going to mess up TheGoverness's thread with what I'd really like to say in response to this post. However I am going to point out that you just provided an excellent example of what she's talking about. For that at least, I Thank You.

And the award for the best example of what the OP was talking about and the best example of most extremist false and retarded claims goes tooooooooo . . . . . .
LMAO

I've heard so much **** from gun nutters for so damned long, I'm sick of them and their love for the pea shooter. So, sign me up as the guy who says, **** you to the guns and those who hold their pea shooter rights above the lives of human beings.

Gun zealots are just getting a taste of their own unhinged medicine is all. Too bad the nutters can't take what they dish out.

Not buying it. The gun zealots have rejected every single attempt at sensible gun control since 2012. Not one proposal meets their standard. So, **** this idea that "it's both sides." **** that completely.

Sadly, there are more than just this one poster messing up this thread with posts that are exactly what Gov was talking about.

Too True. I'll admit that mine probably fell among what she was talking about also. :( But some things just can't be let go I guess. :(

there is a difference: we honestly support our rights and tire of opportunistic leftwing politicians who want to violate our rights so they can pander to low wattage hysterics and emotionally driven anti gun types. Gun haters ( I mean those who hate gun owners) , on the other hand, are almost always dishonest about their motivations. Some are better than others in pretending their jihad against our rights is for "public safety". others don't make much of an effort to hide the fact that their real goal is harassing people who don't buy into their leftwing agenda. Those are the posters who call gun owners "nutters" and so forth

you don't have any ire or hatred for armed assholes who murder innocents-you hate gun rights activists who don't hate Trump as you do

sensible gun control are laws that ban criminals, incompetents and children from buying guns or laws that prevent people from shooting or using firearms in areas or ways where doing so would cause harm. Nothing being proposed by the gun restrictionists these days has anything to do with common sense control of CRIME

when you constantly spew hate at gun owners and then claim your motivations are for "common sense" laws, I call BS on that

Since you are the person who threw "banneroid" out here over a hundred times, at least, your opinion on my advocacy is simply not worth a hill of beans.

No, I hate that there are so many damned guns out there that any unhinged idiot can go get one or ten and then go shoot up a school, an office, a club, an outdoor concert, or blast some poor mail truck driver traveling along the interstate. And, for that, I blame the gun zealots.

...justifiably so.

Absolutely not Kal. Your post was very, very relevant. I'm glad you made it. I wouldn't have been as polite as you were.

Are threads "sadly messed up" by expressions of differing viewpoints?
