Trump In Last Place for Best Presidents

Setting the tone for the government's future, really. That's a momentous task. Consider it. Even at the basic level, the creation and division found in political parties was just brewing under his own cabinet. There were so many forms and norms being tried out under his administration, some embraced, others resisted by some and discarded later. Helping establish what the government will look like is very similar to the significance of the challenge of keeping it together.

That's a great deal why people, including the academic class, so highly value both Lincoln as well as Washington.

Look at the OP again there is a poll in 2014 and 2018 and Jackson dropped 6 spots which was the biggest drop

The fact that our govt is filled with poly sci majors and is so dysfunctional should clue you in to just how worthless the education for it is.

i have thought about it, and majored in the history of new nations.

I did NOT say he had no influence, I said he wasn't faced with much and compared him with a president who began his administration by being shot and finishing the speech.

Well I dislike Trump its too early to rank him with other presidents. Hell, its too early to TRULY rank Obama, only prelims ranks should be done with him.

Anyway I dislike Trump and if i was forced to bet money Id bet he will go down as ONE of the worst, certainly the worse in my lifetime. But theres basically THREE more years to go, as I would want for ANY president that I had that feeling about, I hope he completely proves me wrong.

Two qualms here: being personally targeted by assassins is significant, but the totality of governance will likely overtake those serious incidents. Also, if you're referring to Roosevelt's Milwaukee speech, that was during the tumultuous campaign of 1912, in which Roosevelt had already finished his tenure in office and was trying to unseat his successor (and former friend) Taft. An incredible election campaign (one with so many lessons and signidicances for Americans), but not during his administration.

Typical non answer. I honestly don’t care where hairpiece ranks. I wanted to point out that when ranking presidents...you people obvious don’t care about what the metric is. Just that it says “trump bad.”

There is a reason I call the anti trump crowd “butt trumpeters.” It is all just noise. And it all sounds the same “but trump...” lol.

What did Washington have to face? How to be a President, and get the country off on the right foot, for starters; the Whiskey Rebellion, a cabinet divided between the Hamilton's and Jefferson's, voters angered over assumption of state debts, not getting entangled in the international fallout from the French revolution, to suggest a few. Washington had plenty of problems to face.

I agree with you about Theodore Roosevelt. I've never understood Holmes' observation that TR had "a first class temperament and a second class mind." Roosevelt was brilliant. In his twenties he wrote what is still regarded as the seminal work on naval history in the War of 1812. Then he wrote about twenty more books, more probably than the current President has read.
 
This is an interesting survey.

I do not know if Donald deserves his dead-last ranking yet. I think that the Republican experts surveyed probably have it right, at fifth worst. Now if Donald gets us into a literal civil war, or ushers in the next Great Depression, or outright destroys the democratic process or so badly corrodes it that our votes literally mean nothing, then yes, park him dead last. Because those other men at the bottom of the lists were simply awful in the White House.

The left had the chance to elect someone who would reach across the aisle. Someone who would actually consider that some people don’t agree with the same values they hold dear. That their religion is important. Or that they want something done on immigration. That they want to be able to defend themselves. Someone who wouldn’t constantly berate them with hate filled garbage and treat them like they were the bad guys in a bad Hollywood movie.

Instead they decided the 2 best choices were a socialist and Hillary Clinton. And they lost. Must suck to lose to the least qualified hairpiece former democrat piece of **** whose political allegiances go with the wind. Must really suck. Must also suck to spend all your time crying about him. Rather than spending your time fixing your own life and things around you in your own community.

What kind of idiot would take a poll like this comparing one year of this administration, with no time to see what his policies create, to other finished administrations?

I love Trump and think he's a million times better than the closet c********er we had for the past 8 years. I pray every night for Trump to remain healthy so he can serve out his 8 years.

well, I have been voting third party for nearly three decades; I never voted for a 'Clinton' ........ either sex, never a 'Bush' ......... neither daddy, nor Mr. 9/11, never Obama ........... had two chances ............ haven't voted for an elephant, or a jackass for POTUS for decades ..............

I figure the Dems & the Reps got America in a ****ed up mess & neither side will get US outta the mess both sides got US into ............. so **** Trump & HRC both .......
