School Shooting--Texting Instead of Surviving

I was amazed to hear on this morning's news.....story after story of kids TEXTING as the shooting was going on.

Instead of working out ways to survive.......escape or concealment or barricading or defense or attack on the shooter......they were TEXTING each other about the fact that there was an active shooter.

Mindboggling stupidity.

A total lack of awareness and contact with the real world.

Their world, apparently, is restricted to their phone.......they just don't relate to reality.

This is the generation that will be running things in 20 or 30 years.

God help them.

Eh, don't worry to much. You want mindboggling stupidity, think President Trump. Many generations will be able to point to us and say "at least we weren't that dumb".

Logic is not sympathetic or endearing.......it's just logic.

Children are being neglected and damaged and this should be fixed if we care about them. Is that sympathetic enough?

Its hard to think about something they never thought about. Maybe schools will enact more drills and maybe even barricading drills (like piling all the desks at the door. Filling backpack up with 2 or 3 hard thick books and keeping it over ur chest as a makeshift vest. Sharpening pencils to use as knives) I mean none of it is probably going to save you but something is better than nothing. I think it comes down to most kids never even truly imagine themselves in these situations and when people are in shock they only can think of what they trained.

I think the best solution is at least 2 or 3 people on campus with concealed weapon with training that get paid an extra 2 dollars an hour. And to take this training sponsered by the school they have to agree to try to go towards the shooter and protect the kids, volenteers.

When people shoot up malls they usually just shoot up 1 store and run, malls have security guards. We need a couple of guards at schools more so than the bloated overpaid school administration.

They coulda had also an all school messaging bulleten that could send silent txts to all the students explaining the last known position of the shooter and how to exit the school.

Also the kids that made fun of this sicko could have NOT taunted this kid that he was gonna blow up the school. If kids get caught taunting and bullying in this way i think it needs to be a pretty harsh punishment. They would legit make fun of the shooter at school that he was gonna shoot up the school and tease him and call him a Columbine kid.

What i dont get is what sort of atmosphere must be going on to make some kid go wacko and start targeting random people instead of just the people that bullied him. Thats like... ultra crazy.

Ive seen it happen in school where even the weak parimeter people will start to enjoy when the cruel lead pack picks on 1 person at a time.

But I guess thats just how school is supposed to be a bunch of angsty teenagers testing eachother's meddle. And it is ultimately the sick ones fault that he picked these choices.

To be fair, this is the Dumbest Generation and they are overwhelmingly liberal so perhaps we should cut them some slack.
 
The only difference between the kids you are talking about and similar kids decades ago is they had phones. The majority of kids back then would run or hide. The only difference here is while hiding they were able to text their loved ones.

In the sixties and seventies we were much more weapon-oriented and aggressive. If escape was impossible we would have found ways to attack.

If the shooter opens a door and is immediately hit from ten directions with drawers from teachers desk, a fire extinguisher, computers, books, chairs, etc........he's going down.

Kids today are mostly sheep...........constantly communicating sheep.

1970s.... shop class. Technically it is against the rules to carry a knife at school. Shop teacher starts to cut something, can't find his knife, says 'Somebody loan me a knife for a second."

Well four of us are standing around, and we look at him funny. "Oh don't give me that!" he snaps. "I know somebody has a knife!"

Somewhat sheepishly, three out of four pull out a pocket knife, most of them 3-4" blade lock-backs, and offer them. He picks one, uses it, hands it back. "Just make sure you don't use 'em on each other," he says.

I was number four. I had one too, but I didn't trust him enough to admit to it.
 
Yeah, I carried a knife in school.

At that time there wasn't even a rule against it.

Nobody had thought of it. Pocketknives were normal.

Apparently informing other people that there is an active shooter doesn't count as a survival tactic is your book? It's really rather pathetic how thoroughly knee-jerk the "whine about the younger generation" reflex has become in some people.

No, the Dumbest Generation are the people who actively support enemies of the United States like the Confederacy and Nazi Germany.

Interestingly enough, this generation overwhelmingly has rejected that.

Oh really? So everyone, on hearing loud noises which could potentially be gunfire, should just automatically assume that's what it is? I hate to burst your bubble, but not everyone automatically jumps to "school shooter" without conclusive evidence. Ensuring that information on exactly what the situation is is absolutely essential to formulating any sort of survival plan. I'm not surprised you can't grasp that.

Your post is nothing more than armchair whining from complete safety. No one is impressed.

Gunshots are a pretty good clue that someone is coming to kill you--unless you're totally clueless......hate to burst your bubble, but that's a fact.

You may attain some integrity yet. BTW......there are Nazis in ALL generations. So far it looks like the young ANTIFA crowd has taken up the Swastika.

Assuming every loud noise is a gunshot is not something your average person sitting in a school thinks. It’d be pretty brainless to jump to a conclusion in a life or death situation without adequate information.

But I suppose that’s why so many kids in the 60s and 70s eventually joined radical groups.....they weren’t taught to think before they acted.
