Trump rolled back mental ill gun buying restricitions imposed by Obama Administration.

Tweets one thing and budgets another, what's the problem?

So, we must ask the very tough question as to whether Trump owns a piece of the Florida High School Massacre.

I've been arguing this topic to no avail. The bottom line is always, "But the constitution..."
It's come to this- action must be taken. To take no action is to admit acceptence. If the constitution is standing in the way, stopping any attempt to find a remedy, either change it or toss it. Because this whole problem, mass shootings, school massacres, is glaring so bright it can't be ignored.
And yes, Trump and everyone lse who was part of revoking that law deserv scorn and abuse for every mass shooting since. And it doesnt matter how many would have been prevented by that law. More measures around mental health and guns are needed, not less. Trump and his hand-wringing sorrow and platitudes about mental health, after doing that, after not only not moving forward but stepping backward, shows himself to be a category-5 ***hole.

you argue to no avail because the issue is not firearms.

Its mental health. And vilifying people that need mental health services.. does not make things better.. it makes things worse.

The stigma around mental health is already a major reason why treatment is so difficult to get.

Ohferchristsake.
My argument makes no mention of firearms. It's all about mental health. Did you even read the post you replied it?
Don't waste my time.

What makes you believe the FL shooter was getting SS (SSDI?) for a mental condition?

The rule, which was finalized in December, added people receiving Social Security checks for mental illnesses and people deemed unfit to handle their own financial affairs to the national background check database.

Had the rule fully taken effect, the Obama administration predicted it would have added about 75,000 names to that database.

No... I'm not willing to give up my 2nd amendment rights. They are inalienable rights that are fundamental to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

You can certainly try, but I and many other American's will not let it happen.

What's the difference between America today... and in the 50, 60s, 70s? Citizens were allowed fully automatic weapons... the guns then were no deadlier than the guns today. And this sort of thing was unheard of.

It's 100% social fabric and culture.... probably brought on by our modern technology that is letting us be so detached from our community and exposes us to all the evils of the world by the click of a button. There is also rampant nihilism everywhere.

IDK what there is to do about that fact, but a good start is recognizing the problem... because if we can't even agree on that, then nothing will be done.

Nothing will be done. I've been discussing this issue for a couple days and it's clear that the constitutional rights of the mentally ill can't be trespassed on and there's no direction that can be taken without coming up against the constitution. The previous president tried a small measure and the present one revoked even that.
Nothing left but acceptance.

I believe that his mental state is no longer in question.

That is often the case after the fact (the recent Las Vegas mass shooter being a notable exception). What many (most?) seek is some magical way of preventing, rather than (rarely) prosecuting, such crimes.

Improve our culture... help your community....tell people if they have destructive behavior, they have destructive behavior... Tell people if they need to grow up, they need to grow up.... that respect, empathy, and politeness are virtues we should have for everyone and everything... that if you find no meaning in life, you are lazy, resentful, you need to get your freaking act together... and that is not a choice, you are obligated to... you are EXPECTED to.
THIS^ is what social fabric is.... and you'll know what I mean if you ever go to country like Japan or something... People EXPECT things from you, and if you do not have the bare minimum values and traits that make you a decent well put together human being, you should feel shame.

This is how America was too. We have become too accepting of dysfunctional behavior, like I've said in another thread, it is because of growing out of control Liberal values(I say liberal, but I don't mean the ideology, I mean... the duality, chaos as opposed to order). Like any proper duality, you need both halves of the Yin and Yang symbol.... We are starting to lack societal expectations of personal responsibility because we are too loosey goosey on EVERYONE, EVERYONE has an excuse for EVERYTHING... it's never their own fault, it's always the worlds or anyone else's fault why people are in the situations they are in.

Individualism is the answer. Not this dysfunctional blend of individualism and collectivism whenever which one is convenient.
