Well I guess Tommy Lauren got shut up or down whichever you prefer.

Just my opinion but I figure we're actually breeding psychopaths in this country. We've stopped expecting people to deal with the adversities they are confronted with and, instead, tell them that the only reason the adversity exists is because some asshole from the other political party put it there intentionally. We expect people to become educated through the Discovery channel and Wikipedia. We expect people to become socialized through Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. We expect people to choose their opinion from one of the media approved sources. We give people pills for everything from a hangnail to a hernia. We celebrate "diversity" merely for the sake of diversity. We eschew family and religion while indulging in "social justice" and "globalism".

Yeah, I'm freaking amazed that we don't have more psychopaths.

If you're right, there's no easy fix. Hell, if you're wrong and someone else is right, there's no easy fix. But the issue has started to glare too brightly to be ignored or just tut-tutted.
Something needs to be done. Study this, try that, screw up and try something else, but action must be taken. Sincerely, and keep trying. Or, if not, admit it's acceptable. Because that's the truth- if you do nothing, if you don't keep trying until something works, you're saying it's acceptable.

Anyone saying he wants to be a famous school shooter seems like plenty evidence to toss him in a nutfarm.

How? What law? Perhaps threatening but how do you get around free speech enough to take someone's freedom away for talking. Not saying I disagree with you but... it is not clear at all when you can just start rounding up all the e-tough guys out there.

They certainly have a ****tier health care system compared to western countries.
More inequality certainly.

And resistance to any sort of attempt to remedy the situation. In the Obama administration a law was passed that someone who was on Social Security because of a mental health problem and someone who had been deemed incapable of managing their financial affairs for mental health reasons would be put into the background-check data base. One of the first things the Trump administration did, about a year ago and without the usual fanfare and photo op, was pass a bill removing that measure.
But, thoughts and prayers...

The gun is completely powerless without the psycho holding it.

Yes, but the gun makes it faster and easier. That's literally why they exist.

It's foolish to pretend a tool's capacity to cause harm isn't a factor in harm caused. If the weapon didn't matter, nobody would have invented the smart bomb or tank.

I didn't say it wasn't a factor. It obviously is -- it was the weapon used.

"The gun is powerless without the user" then makes no contribution to the discussion I can imagine.

Wow this young girls grandfather was part of a mass shooting in 1949.
The Howard Unruh mass shooting.
Her mother taught her to hide because her grandfather hid in a closet when his family was murdered.
Jeez...Louise!

I think these kids and I've seen several speak are not gonna be quiet. I don't think I have seen this many people especially kids speak out in this way after going thru something like this. Usually it's a lot of crying and sad stories, so many of these kids are outright pissed.

MY kids are outright pissed, and we live 1000 miles from this school.

I think this is where the rubber meets the road. If the Republicans keep deflecting from the discussion, as they have been since Sandy Hook, they will be out of power for many generations.

Under what law? You can't lock someone up for saying something stupid. If that were the case, what would our "nuthouses" look like?

President Trump said he could shoot someone in broad daylight and not lose a single vote. Was that a serious threat?

Was that not exactly the minimal action taken by that FL school system? Their school (administratively?) got rid of the "psycho" without need of any of that pesky due process stuff which is legally required to do more than simply get rid of them (ban them from campus). There was no criminal or mental deficiency charge filed (that I am aware of) which prevented the "psycho" from passing a NICS BGC and legally buying the guns and ammo required to become infamous a couple of months later. Gun control laws worked exactly as designed (he passed his BGC with flying colors) - psycho control (if ever even attempted) did not and folks died as a (direct?) result.

Not sure if you have kids or not, tw, but schools expel kids all the time, all over the country, and have been for years. No, you don't need due process to expel a student and forbid him or her from being on campus. The schools even have the right to ban unruly parents from school grounds. That doesn't necessarily result in a report to law enforcement.

That women is just a C#$t, just like Ann Coulter. She's a brainless bimbo (no wonder why right wingers love her) who sells out her soul to peddle lies and rhetoric to get viewers.

It's really said how deplorable so many americans are. This country, and rightfully so, is going down the tubes

This is a great spoken poetry about the issue that can should shut this B up

Since the gun control BGC system is based on convictions (due process) then use of that administrative short cut (expulsion) leaves those "weird kids" able to legally buy and possess guns. Many want to let "experts" (government approved, of course) place folks directly onto the "no gun for life" list with no need for due process whatsoever to "fix" the problem created by government use of (administrative) short cuts (such as expulsion) to avoid that pesky due process of law. My point is simple - the current system is what allowed (if not helped to cause) the latest school shooter to legally buy, own and carry guns.

Except it does. The gun IS powerless without the user. The focus should be on why these psychopaths choose to pick up that object and use it for evil purposes. Putting the object in your hand doesn't turn you into a psychopath mass killer. There's something wrong in the minds of these people. They view killing people as a solution to their problems. They view killing people as a game. They aren't sympathetic or empathetic at all towards these people they have killed. It's like their minds are completely void of any notion that their actions will cause incredible grief and fear --- OR --- they know it will and they get satisfaction out of seeing it. There's nothing wrong with the weapon itself. There's something wrong with the PEOPLE who can get their hands on that weapon. This guy should never have been able to purchase a firearm after the things he said on social media.

What do you propose the solution should be?

It doesn't make sense to you because you are seeking someone or something to blame instead of seeking a solution to the problem.
