Gates close to plea deal with Mueller in Russia probe: report | TheHill

Former Trump campaign adviser Richard Gates is reportedly close to a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller.

Sources familiar with the case told CNN that Gates has been in negotiations for a plea deal for nearly a month. A plea deal with Mueller could indicate Gates is cooperating with the special counsel’s investigation.

CNN reports that Gates has had a “Queen for a Day” interview with Mueller’s team, a term criminal lawyers use to describe an interview in which a defendant answers questions from prosecutors and can admit to crimes with few consequences.

I wonder what he's got that Mueller finds useful.

I knew it in my gut, from the recent goings-on during the last few weeks.

Gates stayed on during the campaign after Manaforte was ejected due to his legal troubles, he then went on to work for Trump on the inaugural committee, and continued as an advisor to Trump during the administration until at least June of 2017.

He was a high-level guy interacting at the top levels, including with Trump himself, and his tenure extends far past Manafort. For this reason I believe he is potentially much more damaging to Trump then Manafort may be.

(though Manafort brings his own dangers to Trump through his earlier dealings)

Don't we all? I wonder what Flynn confessed to that got him off all those charges. I wonder how Papadopoulos explained how he knew that the Russians had dirt on Hillary.

This may be the biggest political scandal in American history.
Without a doubt.

Taken in it's totality, it's simply astounding.

Trump has surrounded himself with a plethora of criminals.

Still dreaming I see, probably like the others being charged with something totally different than Russian collusion.

Trump is definitely a "warped" individual. He demand unconditional loyalty from those around him, yet wouldn't hesitate to throw one of them under the bus to save his own ass.

Trump may soon learn that others value "saving their collective asses" just as important as he values saving his.
