Some one put a tracking device on Mitt Romney’s spine, it may go missing as soon as he becomes a senator

I hope you're wrong about this.

I've always been a fan of Romney, and I've been a major fan since he, like me, didn't compromise his principles to support a boil on the butt of humanity like Trump. If he goes to the Senate, and becomes one of those spiny assed worms in the GOP with the head up Trump's ass, I'll lose all respect for him.

I can't believe he lowered himself to kissing up to Trump for a job early last year. I'm sure Trump loved that.

Just another oligarch buying a political job. Do you think he needs the money? Do you think he needs the job? Do you remember him doing anything to aid the USA electorate? Millionaires do things to become billionaires and billionaires do things to become multi-billionaires. Gosh, could we be sneaking up on the truth?

He was a solid governor here.

I didn't like the "severe conservative" act during 2012, though. Same for McCain in 2008. Shame that that is what candidates feel they must do to win the GOP primaries.

He was indeed a solid governor. And he did try to veer to the right, which disappointed me because i knew enough about him to know he's a moderate - and he should have embraced that and ran on it. I know the alt-righters would disagree, but it's actually okay to not sweat when you see a gay person and it's okay to think black people aren't Satan.

Not to get too off topic, but what's your opinion of Baker?

Oh, him? I voted for him and I don't regret it. (I wasn't going to vote for Coakley anyway, to be fair. Despise the woman for professional and borderline personal reasons...)

Baker's been pretty damn good so far. I really can't think of anything I object too strongly to. I feel like there's one thing on the edge of memory that I didn't like but it's not coming to mind at the moment. It obviously can't have been that important. I'm actually not thinking of anything I do object to at the moment, come to think of it....

I was worried about what the governor's council would do after the 2016 legalization vote since (I think) he made some noises, but they didn't do anything drastic. Meanwhile, the commission is genuinely working to get the regs out for shops.

Meanwhile, Baker has been pretty reasonable regarding CPCS compensation (public defender agency); about 25% defense counsel being in-house, and the other 75% court appointed. He hasn't gone after them on some sort of unrealistic cost-cutting spree as others might have.

So yeah, I think I'll vote for him again next time unless he does something I seriously dislike. Massachusetts seems to do well with a Republican governor. The legislature could be a little more mixed, but it isn't, so it's particularly good to have that potential check. 1-party rule pretty much never works out well.

Love this post. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

By the way - this comment Massachusetts seems to do well with a Republican governor is what I really agree with. That's why Weld and Romney were successful, and Baker seems to be as well. The legislature as you well know is tipped very far left, and the GOP governor adds good balance. I've always said that among my favorite "mixings" in politics were when the GOP and the Dems learned to co-govern, like Clinton and Kasich/Gingrich (and no, I don't like Gingrich) or Reagan and O'Neill. Unless you are so partisan and filled with rage towards the other side, moderation and compromise is actually a good thing.

I loved our Democratic governor here in NH, John Lynch, when he was in office. He worked with a really Republican state legislature, and it was brilliant - both sides.

The charade of being against Obama care when he had authored a similar plan in Mass was about as phony as it gets to me.
