I did a quick search and didn't find this, so forgive if its been touched on before.

Obama doesn't seem to concerned that the painter he hand selected is noted for painting pictures depicting blacks beheading white women. Last I checked both his maternal grand mother and mother were white, both his daughters are part white, yet it was OK to pick this man to create the image that will stand for all time.

Could you provide some links? All of the Obama portrait coverage I've seen has either been absurdly praising the portraits like they are the best things EVER or making fun of them as being horrific (closer to my opinion). I'm definitely interested in learning more about this backstory...

So what? The paintings depicted a story in the bible. She is an artist, she painted two pictures. Should her work be censored?

In 5th grade we used to draw pictures of the nuns getting blown up and all kinds of nasty things, didn't make us nun killers.

Such faux outrage.

According to Sean Hannity, there is also SECRET SPERM in the portrait.

Did you hear that folks?? SECRET BLACK MAN SPERM !!!!111!!!

The painter is not in 5th grade and is painting the official picture of the President of the United States...

Some might call that a wee bit different.

The fact that the painter has the same relationship with whites as Hezbollah has with Israel, doesn’t surprise me a bit. How does Obama get away with a more relaxed view of racism that whites do?

I personally do find it disturbing... it doesn't have anything to do with whether the painter is allowed to do this kind of painting or not... because he is.... but those paintings seem rather extreme, and it's hard not to think they are politically motivated.

Just another one of those things... if Trump had specifically sought out a white painter, whom painted white woman beheading black woman in a stately manor.... You wouldn't hear the end of it. In fact I'm pretty sure we would all hear about this artist WAY before the President would ever get a chance to pick him.

They might use it to pick up our wimmin!!!!!

What a lame story, good to know that Hannity is stroking out over it.:lamo

Wow. Some of you folks can be triggered by the strangest damned things.

Taking the two paintings he did out of context and sensationalizing it for the sake of politics is pretty lame.

As a white person, I'm not outraged in the least. I understand that artists express themselves through their mediums and also understand that the subject matter derives from Judith slaying Holofernes.
I'm far from a Philistine, although not exactly as erudite as others when it comes to art, but my guess is that the artist has something to say about white power and oppression.
Just a guess.
As a person of the Christian faith, if the likes of Piss Christ and Elephant Dung Virgin Mary didn't manipulate my emotions, this won't either.

That said-and you knew this was coming-anyone who tries to sell the notion that if this situation were reversed- if a white POTUS commissioned a white artist who had famously painted whites beheading black- there wouldn't be riots in the streets is just willfully ignorant or lying.
This canard that people will take the artist's renderings of black women beheading white women literally is merely a deflection from the underlying current of radical left hypocrisy.

For everyone's reference:

Other beat me to adding the link, as you can see, it's not exactly what most think of as art. Just using good judgment alone he should have stayed clear of this "artist". You think one of the women in his life or a trusted advisor would have mentioned to him it's not a wise choice. Yet he went with him anyway, shows a pretty careless disregard for white folks, most of whom supported his ass most of his life.

If you thought we'd left behind "Obama-tan-suit" territory, rest assured we have not.

When I was a desk agent at the hotel, I dealt with all kinds of races checking in and checking out.
RACE was never much of an issue with any of them, one way or another.
The common people you see every day just want to live their lives in peace and be left alone.
This is what, I think, drives the extremists crazy on either end of the political spectrum.
Hardly any are going to grab their torches and take to the streets.
Those you see on TV are paid to do so generally and not even from the area.

Most would be just a busy day for a platoon of Marines to handle.
...and everyone else of all races would be at home watching it on TV.

Let's leave the " race war " talk to blogs on the internet.
No one wants to leave their couch and sleep in a ditch for two or three years eating Ritz crackers and canned tuna fighting a race war.
All races have it too good in this country for that.

It has been touched....

It seems the lockstep marching orders have been doled out and are being followed obediently.

Pro-Trump trolls are coordinating a smear campaign against Obama portrait artist, Kehinde Wiley

As a response to the unveiling of former President Barack Obama’s official portrait, pro-Trump trolls launched a smear campaign against artist Kehinde Wiley, claiming a painting of his symbolizes an attack against white people and that the artist “seems racist.”

On Twitter and online message boards like the “politically correct” threads on 4chan, 8chan, and The_Donald subreddit on Reddit, pro-Trump trolls are smearing Wiley by claiming his rendition of Judith beheading Holofernes, a modern twist on a classical theme including works by Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Rubens, and others, is “a ‘queen’ cutting off the head of a young white child.” Commenters on the message boards and Twitter have said Wiley “seems racist” and accused the artist of being “the definition of racism.”

We need 12 gross of Clutching Pearls and and extra soft Charminy fainting couch. On the double!

right. if Trump's painter had painted a white person cutting of a black person's head the left would NEVER politicize it. They would be very rational about the whole thing. Great point!

also, today is opposite day.

Oh please... I almost guaranteed if things were put in reverse and Trump had an artist who had white woman behead black woman... you would feel entirely differently..

Though, it's nothing I can prove in a debate... I have to just rely on your and others honesty.

I for one, certainly hope I would be equally disturbed.

Okay, so I saw the paintings and I really don't see what is so offensive about them. If anything, the offense I took (as a white man) to those paintings is that they are awful knockoffs of the excellent Caravaggio version of Judith and Holofernes. Given the outrage level expressed overall, I was expecting a bloody severed head ala Madame la Guillotine, but those paintings were nothing of the sort. I definitely don't find them offensive. I do think the former President's choice of artist could have been better, as this was obviously going to generate controversy among those who find controversy in most Obama-related news and I personally find the portrait to be distasteful when compared to the spectacular portraits of the fellow Presidents it will accompany in the National Gallery.

This still ranks right up there with the OMG! He wore a tan suit:

I find it rather obvious politically motivated for shock value.... there is no other reason why you would make a painting like that, in my opinion.... especially since there are two of them... it means that the race was specifically intentional. Idk what the intentional message is, but it doesn't seem like a good one.

Guess what? Sean clowned himself...yet again:lamo

Sean Hannity Promotes, Then Deletes Bonkers Obama Portrait ‘Secret Sperm’ Conspiracy Theory
Hours after publishing, the Fox News host deleted a tweet and article about ‘inappropriate sexual innuendo’ in Obama’s official portrait.

The official portraits of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama received a wide array of reactions when they were unveiled on Monday. But none has been quite as insane as the one Sean Hannity promoted on his Twitter account Tuesday afternoon.

“Obama's portrait—a stark contrast to predecessors with inappropriate sexual innuendo,” the Fox News host tweeted, linking to a truly bizarre article on his website written by “Hannity Staff.”

“PORTRAIT PERVERSION: Obama Portrait Features ‘SECRET SPERM,’ Artist Joked About ‘Killing Whitey’” the headline screamed. And it only got weirder from there.

Hannity’s piece includes a close up of a vein in Obama’s forehead in the portrait that someone on his “staff” apparently thinks looks sperm-like.

It appears that the whole “sperm” theory originated on—where else?—4chan, where a thread was posted on Monday proclaiming, “Official Portrait of Obama has SPERM on his face!!!” That post just happened to include the same close up of Obama that Hannity used on his site.
