I’ve been there twice for work related stuff, and let me just say that their roads are like 3rd wold countries. Their transportation sucks compared to cities like Portland, OR or Seattle. Traffic is just horrible.

Really was expecting the opposite.

Mountains. Cold weather. Poor state. No income tax. I mean. I’ve driven there. It could be worse. It could be Miami or Atlanta or Jacksonville or Texas or Denver Colorado. Lol. Nashville was actually quite nice. I try not to judge a state by roads. I mean Mississippi has some bad ones.

Come to CT sometime. We put the 3rd into 3rd world roads.

Stop it, we all know you love Miami.

Worst roads I have ever been on were in New Jersey. Not talking just about highway potholes either. Some of the off the highway roads looked like they just laid pavement on the ground as they found it right up to the tree lines with roots and crap pushing up the pavement.

Been awhile since I have been to Tennessee but I don't recall the roads being that bad even in Memphis. Memphis itself is a pretty wretched place though. I have no idea what the roads in Portland or Seattle are like as I never have been and never intend to go to either of those cities.

Don't come to Austin [no really] our streets are worse.

Guess we need infrastructure upgrades.

Lol, Mississippi is pretty terrible for roads but they have been working on them the last 15 years and have made some progress especially in the Jackson area.

See more of the US, there are plenty of places that are much worse than Tennessee when it comes to roads. As I have mentioned in other threads, I-285 here in Atlanta has been under construction somewhere along the loop ever since I've lived here... and it still looks like no one's tires are safe.

Traffic in the Seattle metro area is horrifically bad and Portland's isnt much better.

Seattle's been rated 2nd worse in the country.

Portland & Seattle transportations are advanced. They have trains everywhere, city buses every 30min. Vehicle isnt needed.

Portland has MAX...Seattle's light rail is in its infancy.

And most of Seattle is spread out from the core, as well as people driving in from the burbs. A vehicle may not be needed but I've commuted bus from outside Seattle and they still sit in plenty of traffic.

Our traffic is...and it cant be repeated enough....horrific.

Yea. I used to go to Vicksburg area and the northern part in winter. Muddy and wet. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a shiny car there except in oxford lol.

I never saw roads worse than in Detroit. TN was actually pretty good compared to SE Michigan. Hell MI still has thousands of miles of road which to this day are still unpaved.

Tennessee could be all mud roads and outhouses and I would love it no less.

Tennessee is beautiful and chock full of really nice people.

One of my favorite states. Wish I could visit there more often.

Think about it. Not a whole helluva lot of assholes come from Tennessee.

I love the Tennessee state of mind. (Generally speaking, of course.)

Too bad the state doesn't have salt water beachfront.

I went to Knoxville for the eclipse, I rather liked it. Highways were nice and wide, no traffic. The people were pleasant, tons of new restaurants and breweries, even went to a bar that had a theater in the back hosting Game of Thrones nights. I was told rent was 1/3 what I pay here in the DC area.

Wouldn't mind living there.

I lived in Olympia for several years in the 90's and just dreaded driving to Seattle. That was 20 years ago. I can only imagine what it is like now.

It's Hell, even on weekends.
