Yep! You read that right! According to Time Magazine, in January 2013 Page met with a Russian diplomat who was later identified and charged as a Russian intelligence agent. The FBI approached Page in June 2013 and warned him that they thought that Russian intelligence was trying to recruit him, and he essentially blew them off. Two months later he sent a letter to some academics wherein he stated:

“Over the past half year, I have had the privilege to serve as an informal advisor to the staff of the Kremlin in preparation for their Presidency of the G-20 Summit next month, where energy issues will be a prominent point on the agenda,”

The Time article states that the FBI has been watching him off-and-on ever since.

Bearing this information in mind - and combined with all the other meetings and contacts that the Trump campaign falsely claimed never happened - exactly how are we supposed to think it was either unconstitutional or biased for the FBI to continue FISA surveillance on Carter Page as the Nunes memo seems to claim? Especially since the continuation of the FISA warrant was pushed by none other than Trump appointee Rosenstein?

But I guess all this is just "fake news" too, since it shows that Trump and his staff are only trying to tear down the FBI to protect themselves, rather than allowing the FBI to do its job...which is precisely what the FBI had been doing all along. They aren't perfect - no human organization can ever be perfect - but they are one of the very best. It's just strange that now it's the we-love-law-and-order Right that's whining about the FBI, while it's the police-can't-always-be-trusted Left that's defending the FBI!

Why hasn't he been charged?

Step 1: "Trump is a Kremlin stooge" (Translation: we need to stop Trump from being elected, because he's a threat to our Swamp)
Step 2: "Carter Page is a Kremlin stooge" (Translation: we need to wiretap the Trump campaign)
Step 3: "Jeff Sessions is a Kremlin stooge" (Translation: crap! Trump got elected! we need a Special Prosecutor to hamstring the Trump presidency! The only way we can get that, is by forcing Sessions to recuse ASAP!)

Again and again, we can see a consistent desire to raise the accusation of "Russian stooge" against whoever is most convenient to enable sabotage of Trump's reformist political agenda.

And by the way - has Trump done anything extremely pro-Russia yet? Trump's upgrading America's nuclear arsenal in ways that counter Russia's. This is consistent with Trump's campaign promises to do so (which Lefties have conveniently ignored, just as they've ignored any of Trump's campaign statements that don't conform to their Russian-stooge narrative)

No doubt Dems will claim "It's because of us Lefty Dems that Trump hasn't given Putin the keys to the Whitehouse!"

It's like the old joke:
"Why are you walking around with a clothespin clipped to your nose?"
--"It's to keep the Pink Elephants away!"
"What Pink Elephants?? I don't see any Pink Elephants around!"
--"See! I knew it would work!"

Democrats have reduced the American Republic into their political joke.

Just like any other socialist ideology, Liberals have to have an organizing principal. That organizing pricipal always a domestic enemy. They tried using global warming, but that's been exposed as a fraud. Race politics no longer carries any weight. The new enemy: President Trump, because he's a Russian agent.

It's almost like you didn't read the memo, or follow the subject, and are just chalking anything and everything negative about Trump up to "bias."

Are you Brian Kilmeade?

You know, for someone that talks endlessly about socialism, you sure do come across as a neo-fascist yourself.

Having just seen I,Tonya this is where my brain went:

I don’t think Carter Page acted as anything but a clown.

To the question, why shouldn’t the FBI take an interest in an American who declares himself “an advisor to the Kremlin”, you prepare and post this answer, which now has a “like”. Such is the working level of Trumpian thought.

TDhe NeoCons are the organ grinder for the MIC trillion ddollar mantra that Russia is an enemy. It is in their MSM controlled mouthpieces and anyone who disputes this mantra is immediately labelled as unpartriotic. Straight form Goebbels playbook on how to lead/mislead the masses to war. I don't know Page from apples, but it sounds like he was involved in a friendly infromation exchange on energy policy and the World. i.e. Global Warming implications, pipelines, resources, Banking, and associated world problems. That'd be a good thing,, because the Russians are not really an enemy of the State, but an enemy of the Hegemony promoted by the NeoCons that precipitated the Iraq War with false WMD info./

Carter Page has not been charged, let alone convicted, of any offence. He is a free citizen of a purportedly free country who can do whatever he likes within the law. And who should be free of harassment by an overbearing, arrogant and politically partisan FBI. The FBI may or may not need 'tearing down' but it certainly needs putting in its place and reminding that it doe not have Stasi-like powers.

Perhaps you should read the whole article before you start huffing and puffing.

The editor thinks Page was ultimately harmless in terms of national security threats. “I would never have seen him in the center of concern like this, or playing a role or being seen as an intermediary between the Russian government and a political candidate,” the editor said. “He struck me just as someone who had developed some strange academic views … and wanted to have them published,” the editor says.

I never in my life thought I'd see the day that Republicans, (GOP politicians, conservative Republicans, Conservative talking heads, etc.,) would defend Russians ahead of their own American citizens and American Intelligence/Law Enforcement Agencies.

They actually hate Dems more that they hate the ex-KGB Communist Putin.

I fear for the future of this country.

What I thought was strange was 5 years of surveillance on an American with no arrests. I would think if someone hasn't done something to muster a charge after years, the surveillance should stop. Arrest the asshole already.

Sorry, that should be it's own thread.

Are you people incapable of posing an intelligent question? Page was subjected to a FISA warrant because he identified himself as "a Kremlin advisor" and was know to have contacts with Russian intelligence officials. The FISA court considered that information sufficient to grant a warrant to monitor him. Why don't you? When did conservatives become Nazi sympathizers, I mean Stalin sympathizers, I mean Putin sympathizers? Sorry, I tend to get my authoritarian murderers mixed up.

None of these people have been 'defending Russians'. Imagining something does not make it so.

But being 'a Kremlin adviser' is not a crime. Nor in a state which boasts ad nauseum about being 'the home of the free' should it be. Do you really want the FBI to have the power to decide to whom you may speak?

Thank you for condensing the argument regarding the actions of FISC.

It would seem then, that any US citizen that travels to Russia for business purposes should be spied on? I guess that would include many US businessmen, including Tillerson and Exxon?

Democrats have reduced the American Republic into their political joke.

I'd say that refusing to implement sanctions against Russia that were passed by huge majorities by both houses of congress is extremely pro Russian.

Trump taking Putin's word over the findings of his own intelligence service is extremely pro Russian.

Trump having a meeting with Putin without his own interpreter and advisors in the room is extremely pro Russian.

I think what you mean is that liberals are very 'sad' that no one is buying their Russian collusion gibberish and it's very hard for them to cope when the puppies in their designated safe spaces have been replaced with a banana.

True, it is not a crime. No one said it was. Along with Page's known contacts with Russian intelligence officials, it was sufficient cause to monitor his calls under the statute. If you have a problem with this, your argument is with the statute not with the people whose job is to comply with and enforce the statute.
