Trump Wants the Census to Ask About Immigration Status

Does anyone here honestly believe that someone that is here illegally will admit to that, are you really that stupid?

No, they're just more likely to hide from the census and not be counted, which is just as good when it comes to determining representation.

Way to use the race card on a topic that has nothing to do with race. Well...nothing to do with race in the real world. Your imaginings are a different story.

If you think this has nothing to do with race you are either the most uninformed and naive person trying to discuss this or you are intentionally and willfully blind about the implications of such a change.

And I never thought you were uninformed.

I'm not disagreeing with you about illegal immigrants, just legal ones. Surely a legal immigrant residing in the US is due representation, as they pay tax and are invested in the nation?

No, this country should care primarily about its citizens. Immigrants should get the respect of the rule of law and the like, but only citizens should get representation. Immigrants can go home. For citizens, this is our home.

The Constitution only says that there must be a count. It does not prescribe what questions must be asked while determining that count.

Except my question was in reply to this

There are 435 seats in the House of Representatives, and those are distributed based on populations. If California's population apparently shrinks because illegals don't get counted, then they would lose those seats to another state. I'm not saying that they would necessarily go to a red state, but illegal heavy states uniformly vote Democrat, so this would have the effect of Democrats losing seats and Republicans gaining seats on average.

Texas, with the second highest percentage of illegals in the country, would be interested in hearing that they "uniformly vote Democrat". Does that explain why no Democrat has won Texas since Jimmy Carter in 1976, and the Democrats haven't won a statewide election since 1994?

That's true, even though Arizona's senators are the worst. Still, the areas with the most illegals tend to have Democrat representation, even if that doesn't apply to the entire state. Still, Texas is way too close for comfort, with Trump only at 52% when Romney got 57% in 2012.

I will confess to playing a part in that. I could not lower myself to vote for Trump.

That is something positive that illegal immigrants bring to Texas - more House seats and EC votes.

Or simply lie. Thing is the census is used for several purposes, one of the main ones is supposedly to draw/update district lines, as anyone that has seen their own State district lines knows, lines are drawn on political needs instead.

The Constitution clearly says there should be a count of the people. Not just some of the people - but The People.

This suggestion would change that directive and be a violation of the Constitution.

Because getting the census right is hard enough and we really are not very good at doing things anymore, making the success less likely by asking a question that will not get answered honestly thus encouraging lying and making people fearful of the census takers is a bone headed move....there is zero chance of a positive outcome.
Agreed, the only question that should be asked is how many live in your household. Nothing else

We only have 2 House seats here. We need more illegals, I guess. Well, we are on the Canadian border, and the little devils may climb the mountains like the Von Trapps to get in here.

Should then legal immigrants pay taxes, if they're not represented?

I just don't see race in every little thing. It's my opinion that people that seek racism, will find it whether its actually there or not.

So it is willful blindness. Thank you for clarifying that.

Yeah? So? The answer is the same. And he's correct. They shouldn't be counted because they're not supposed to be here to begin with. If some wedding crasher comes to your wedding are you going to consider them to be a part of your wedding? If someone comes to your house and starts staying there without your invitation are you going to consider them a part of the household? Or are you going to call the police to have them removed...if not remove them yourself?

Yep. Great news. Of course Feinstein is worried about it. California's vote tallies and census numbers will be decimated.

I heard California figures to lose one seat.

Hopefully it's hers.

We have plenty. Go to any Home Depot and pick up a truck load - they will all swear that they are experienced experts at installing whatever you bought (but you may have some difficulty understanding them).

You have Von Trapps in Texas? And they're not singing anymore?

Are we on same page as not asking about race

California and Virginia were on track to GAIN a seat; now they'll likely stay the same.

AZ, COL, and OR are all scheduled to GAIN one seat, to name changes, with AL and WV losing one.

Manipulating the Census is what we'd expect from the Stephen Miller White Nationalist House ...
