This isn't about Republican, Democrat, or Independent. They all do the same job. They all work in the same Congress. They all work for the country. This is EVERYBODY'S fault. This government has once again failed citizens of this country. This isn't one side's fault or the other. They all work in the same job, so they all are to blame. Plain... And... Simple!

**** the citizens. We deserve what we elect. We caused this and should take ownership. It's not my dogs fault that he ****s on the rug. I should have trained him better and let him know it's not ok.

I find it hard to blame either the Dems or the GOP, the fault lies with this dumb president. Every time someone came up with a plan he shot it down, sometimes going in both directions. He never gave them, either the GOP or the Dems what he would agree with. Even McConnel said that on several occasions. And now he says he won't bargain with anyone during the period of the shut down. I think the guy is nuts or even wanted the shut down so he could stay in the limelight where he always wants to be. Always wants to be the center of attention. I do blame the GOP for not passing the 12 appropriation bills before the beginning of the budget year. Would have kept all of this from happening since they had the votes to do so without Dems help at that time.

Tradition is to blame. When have the budget bills been passed on time in the last two decades?

Let me guess. You've been listening to CNN. Trump has said what he wants. Dem's are just trying to get them to settle. I think most Americans want what Trump is asking for. They can all get what they want. I blame both parties for the shutdown, but mostly Dems.

Could fricking care less. Shut it down. BFD. Maybe people will see the world doesn't come to an end just because the government "shuts down" (hint: it really doesn't.)

Incorrect. It appears that he has not shot them all down. Just seems like the media is playing it as if he has.

Goodlatte’s Immigration Bill – A Worthy Compromise

What’s more, the White House has endorsed the bill, as have other conservatives.

The gov. will shut down because a short term spending bill (to Feb. 16th I believe) was voted down by the Dems. The reason they voted no is because a DACA agreement is not included. They could easily avoid the shutdown by not insisting DACA be part of the agreement right now, especially since the deadline for that is in March. The President is involved with the DACA agreement, not the short term spending bill. The shutdown is squarely on the Dems.

For many people is doesn't. Certainly not for the politicians who continue to get paid. For the govt. employees that will be forced to take a furlough, it matters. For people who's living depends on govt. services, it matters a lot.

I watch Deadliest Catch, and the last shut down hurt the crab fishermen and women quite a bit, since the annual permits were not issued (govt employees weren't working) when the season opened. It cost them thousands in income lost because their season started so late.

I think it affects more people than we think, and for more reasons than we consider.

It's Mexico's fault. Bastards wouldn't pay for Trump's wall. So, he was stuck begging Schumer for funding for it.

Meh...it's mostly just politics. Happy anniversary, Donald.

Yeah, it doesn't matter. Doesn't affect me personally, so why should I care?

Isn't that the attitude the Conservatives are accused of?

All the R's had to do was throw the D a bone. So, this is on the Cons.

I hope people see this and "get out the vote" in the mid-terms. The Dems might have shot themselves in the foot once again. Just like Hillary did by calling half of the country's electorate "Deplorable".

No, it's not. Did you read what I wrote? The agreement for DACA is the only disagreement, and that didn't HAVE to be included right now. There was nothing in the CR that the two parties disagreed with. The vote was for a one month spending bill. Period. The Dems want it to include a DACA agreement. It doesn't NEED to. They can still hammer that out since it doesn't expire until March.

Completely avoidable.

True, the DACA deadline isn't until March, so why raise the issue now?

The Dem's lose leverage if the government is funded, it's the biggest leverage they have. Once the government is funded, the Dems lose this leverage point.

End chain migration, end visa lottery, a physical border barrier, and more for border enforcement for a DACA deal, granted permanent legal status, i.e. green cards, is a fair deal.

After that, changing the immigration system to one that is merit based, one that includes assessing the immigrant's ability to assimilate, and speeding up the process can come next.
