CHIPS is being funded for 6 more years in this bill and DACA isn't in this bill. DACA isn't a budget issue. If anyone playing politics it's the dems trying to hold the budget hostage to get thier way.

Because that's not what he's about. Trump is all about pointing fingers at others in order both to deflect blame and to attempt to elevate his own brand. His tactics do work for about 30% of Americans.

I didn't agree with his politics, but I NEVER did feel as though Bush 43 disrespected the office. In addition, I absolutely admired the way that Laura Bush and Barbara Bush served as FLOTUS. I have no issue with Miss Melania at this point in time, but Trump is just a slime ball with money.

He isnt against funding chips. He is against it being funded in the short term. He wants long term funding and btw he got them to include that.

I always liked and respected Lindsey, except for his recent flip referring Christopher Steele for prosecution by the DOJ. It seemed out of character, for him.

Daca wasn't on the table before and shutting down the gov isn't going to force it to be. Good for trump for putting his foot down. Let the voters decide if shutting down the gov was an appropiate action by schummer for thier daca stand. Welcome to hardball politics dems.

McConnell has just said on the floor that his starting position is Graham's offer which was rejected by Schumer.

I think that's a good sign for negotiations, because it was more hush hush before that moment.

Though it's hard to compare presidencies since Carter had 6 showdowns just on abortion, with the rest economic: Reagan 8, Bush-41 one, Clinton-2 and Obama one; shutdowns under GOP presidents average only 3 days; while those under DEMs have averaged 14 days.

It's pretty obvious the scars from 2013 have been ripped open with both accusing of wesponization. The DEM base better damn well support at-risk Senators like Tester and Baldwin, who both just put their seat on the line, purposely engineered by McConnellism's 'long game'.

It's more important than daca. McConnell is playing games with kids lives. Has been since October when the house sent over the chips bill. They keep wanting 30 days and then nothing is done.
The government needs to stay shut down until a budget is done.
Hey it took what 5 days for republicans to ram thru the tax bill why can't it take 5 days to get all this **** right.
Republicans need to start governing until shut it down and keep it shut down!
I'll be calling and emailing all weekend.

therefore the relative dissatisfaction of all parties concerned.

Schumer or maybe it's Schumer's base that wants a clean DACA bill and only minimal border security he's
also clinging to chain migration & the dopey 'Lottery' he wants to achieve everything. That's not
gonna work! Therefore the war continues.

Im 100% behind keeping the gov shutdown until an actual budget is passed instead of this CSR nonsense.

Maybe I have this wrong and feel free to correct me if I do but I have been under the impression that in this CSR CHIPS funding is extended for another 6 years. Is that incorrect?

I got msnbc on right now and they are making sure the dems know they are gonna be pisses if they don't get amnesty for dreamers. They (the guests) think they have a winning position and the people are going to be mad at trump for the shutdown. They are dug in on this and I think many of the represenitives are terrified they are trapped in a political massacre that they don't know how to survive.

Taking the hard line stand has put them in a really bad spot.

I agree they have been put in a box. It's the immovable object vs. the irresistible force. They are both dug in.
I can't fathom that the public would agree with Schumer's position but we'll have to see.
