The GOP is running a contest to win a dinner with President Trump at Palm Beach.

Hypothetically, say you won, what would you eat? What would you ask President Trump?

I think the seafood should be delicious, so I would probably choose the maybe some Florida stone crab or the snapper.

I would probably want to pick his brain on real estate as he has proven to be an expert on the subject.

What says you?

If he’s going to order a steak well done and put ketchup on it the SS is going to have to restrain me. So no I don’t think I would have dinner with him, probably the only president that I wouldn’t want to have dinner with.

Have you ever had prime steak well with ketchup?

It is very interesting, high fat beef cooked at a high temp gets a whole new flavor, plus it is tender.......which contrasts nicely with the ketchup.

What's wrong with ketchup and steak?

Re: Dinner with President Trump

Trying putting peanut butter on fig newtons

I'll try anything once....there are very few foods that I straight up dont like......I did try prime steak with ketchup though because I wanted to know, it really is not bad at all......slight bitter of the char.....the sweet and tangy ketchup over that.....there is lots going on.

Yeah, cause you haven't lived until you've eaten a steak burnt to the consistency of a shoe with ketchup poured all over it.

Re: Dinner with President Trump

Yeah, cause cooking a steak until it's the consistency of a shoe and then pouring ketchup on it is a real culinary skill.

There is nothing wrong with eating a steak well-done. To make fun of people that like steak well-done is borderline racist.

No, you dont understand, with high fat prime meat cooked at high enough temp to get it a little bitter on the char it is not like that....only the best of the beef can do this, and then it needs to be cooked right.......but this is Trump, getting the best of the best beef and then finding the right person to cook it is nothing to him....EASY-PEASY.

I understand the hurdle of cooking prime meat well, I am a chef after all, but two years ago I had a S.O. of on of my kids over who only eats well done, and I had prime see that night see, and I had hear about this strange cat Trump and his prime well done with ketchup streaks.....and I had to see about it.

People who eat well done steaks hate flavor, and there's something spiritually broken within them.

To make fun of people that like steak well-done is borderline racist.

And then he has that person cook it to well done. If the person doing this for him is a real chef and not some guy random guy off the street (and it probably is), he's almost certainly contemplating suicide right now.

Are you seriously trying to convince us that Trump's documented horrible taste in steaks is somehow good? This from a guy who supposedly OWNED A RESTAURANT?

Well done steaks are a crime against humanity, and you of all people should goddamn well know that. Cooking high-fat beef at a high temp happens for a short time, not to make it a hockey puck.

There are three permissible steak temps -- medium rare, medium, and order the goddamn chicken and stop wasting my time.

Re: Dinner with President Trump

Is the Dinner going to be from McDonalds, Trump's favorite restaurant?

No, YOU don't understand. You don't know what the hell you're talking about. You're not a chef if you claim such utter absurdity. Burning a steak is not cooking it.

Any chef worth his salt would tell you to go die in a chemical fire if you even suggested doing that to a high fat prime cut.

My second job was The Skyroom at the Rockford Airport....mostly Steak and Seafood...1980-1983..when we got a well done order we grabbed the worst one and then just burnt the **** out of it.....but see the customers kept coming back, that is what they wanted.

What Trump eats is completely different.,,,I know, because as I said I tried it.

Beef is never going to be cheaper, now is the time to run the experiment.

Re: Dinner with President Trump

I wish I could remember if my dad had dinner with Trump when he visited Trump Tower soon after it was built, a meeting set up by his employer,,,,Dad was a salesman you see, who came away from this meeting idolizing Trump....Trump was everything he wanted to be.

My dad would not have considered it strange because all the years he was growing up his mom never cooked one piece of meet that was not well done, grandpa would not hear of anything else, and he always got what he wanted in that house.

Course dad spent the rest of his life eating very rare to blue.....

So you took a terrible steak and cooked it to a terrible temp; but Trump's is better because ... it's still a burnt steak.

I realize the bland, ****ty taste of middle America is what kept them coming back, and to be frank I don't give a fiddler's fart what Trump eats -- he can eat his own feces for all I care -- but stop trying to tell us his taste in steak is somehow "good." I work in restaurants, and you'd be despised in any kitchen with more than a flat-top if you ordered that garbage.

Very nice that good ol' dad wanted to wear a piss-colored toupee and stiff contractors out of money whilst plastering his name on every building he laid eyes on.

I can understand people wanting him to be president. He'll do anything to cut taxes for rich people, so if you're rich, YAY! Win for you! But IDOLIZING him? How can anyone even take him seriously for more than 10 seconds at a time.

To be fair, he seemed a smidge more lucid 30 years ago. Now? He's basically a child.

Or as Gordon Ramsey once said, "Shake that pan again and I'll shove it up your arse."

How many of these people have ever eaten so much as one bite of prime steak well done?

Damn few, so their opinion is not worth much.

I wouldn't do that to prime, because I'm not a goddamned monster. I have empathy; even for slices of dead cow.

In no rational world, be it here or in some far-off parallel dimension, would a well-done prime taste better than the rubber off a blown-out tire, much less a decently cooked prime steak. I realize your Trump worship borders on idolatry, but for Chrissakes, his taste in food sucks. It's tragic. ESPECIALLY FOR A RICH GUY. He somehow manages to take the idea of a rich guy who likes common-man food and blow that all to hell by taking rich-people food and murdering it with his bare hands, in cold blood.

I love how the guy who "owned a restaurant" almost 40 years ago is trying to tell the guy who actively works in restaurants right now what tastes good and what people like. Dude, the 80s were the trash decade for cuisine. Only good thing that came out of it was an appreciation for sushi. I'm sure your truck stop was popular though. Rockford, Illinois ... four Michelin stars and counting.

Like I said, that was a problem for me, but since I had a guest who will only eat well I did what any self respecting gourmand would do, I gave it a whirl.

12% eat well done you know, a lot more than rare you know, you being such an expert and all.
