So then, what is a reasonable DACA/Border deal look like?

I listened to SHS tells the WH press corps the list of what DJT calls compromise and could hardly keep from laughing out loud. Her list of "compromise" being EVERYTHING Trump wants that he isn't going to get. If memory serves, I seem to remember compromise being both sides giving a little.

Now, in the spirit of compromise, what can you folks live with on this issue?

My personal preference would be to revert immigration to being done the way it was done before 1965 for a multitude of reasons.

Realistically I'd just like the United States to start following actual immigration law.

Increased border security, no sanctuary cities, e-verify, better tracking on visas, reduced immigration quotas for 25 years, and then full amnesty for anyone who was here before 1/1/2018

DACA as the LAST immigration compromise.

In exchange?

EVERYTHING Trumps wants regarding Immigration starting with Merit Based ONLY (which means elimination of the lottery, chain migration, disaster migration, and allowing anchor baby exceptions); along with the Wall and increased border security.

Otherwise, just expel the DACA members and immediately begin the round up and mass expulsion of all illegals throughout the USA.

Trump already compromised. He didn't outright end DACA. His compromise was to give Congress a chance to pass a law.

"Anchor baby exceptions" are a constitutional issue. Get ready to amend it, or that's a no-go.

I think you have to list what both side want first then tit for tat compromise right.
DEMS-DACA citizenship, DAPA citizenship, anything else?
REP- Wall, increased border patrol, ending chain migration, ending lottery mirgration and replace with meirt based system, Mandatory e-verify, kates law.

Please people adjust this if im wrong

From what I herd on the news the deal Trump rejected is they had amnesty for DACA with a pathway fro citicenship and for their parents DAPA got legal protected status (non-citizenship). And all they said they gave up in compramise was increased funs for border security. Which is for border patrol funds and some fencing. To the tune of 1.4 billion.
The 2006 secure fencing act which had 80% congress support was passed with funding for 700 miles of double fencing (which would cost 4 billion dollars for 700 miles of double fencing in todays dollars). Only 60 miles of fencing was built and on a spending budget democrats amended it so that the funds would have to be requested from the DHS secretary who was a democrat and he never did.

List what you want done. Then I'll list what I want done.

Then we can talk.

A compromise implies both sides would give up something in order to get something in return.A compromise also means that both sides of the deal are upheld. We know from the last immigration compromise that didn't did happen. The anti-Americans got amnesty for illegals while border enforcement it still a joke even after 30 years since Reagan amnesty and now anti-Americans in office are still trying to grant amnesty/legal status to illegals. We were also told that would be the last one. So the only people supporting a immigration compromise are either piece of **** ant-Americans who want amnesty illegals or ****en morons who should stay away from people selling the deed to the Brooklyn Bridge and ocean front property in Arizona.

After the illegals get legal status and are no longer illegals then everything Trump wants would be watered down, ignored or funding for it gutted. Just like the last so called immigration compromise with bits of token enforcement so they can fool the American people into thinking they are doing their jobs.

Here are some stats that should be considered:

Your compassion for DACA families is touching...................:(

I thought Trump said he was in favor of DACA. Now, saving it is simply his form of a bargaining chip?

I want the DACA protected without a 14 BILLION dollar boondoggle wall that I will have to pay for. I am certainly open to other forms of border security and immigration changes. I managed to get a couple of laws through Congress in my day. Took about two years for each one, so I know it can be done.

See, you already messed up. I asked for what you wanted. Not what you didn't want. We're supposed to start from neutral ground. You say what you want. I say what I want. Then we start from there. You went straight to what you wanted and didn't want. Where's the compromise there? You've already cut the conversation down by half not even giving me a chance to let you know what I wanted. A compromise is where two people state what they want and then see which of those things can be added or taken away based upon agreement. How can there be a compromise if you won't even let me state what I want before you start saying "no!"?

This is the way I think it should be broken down:

1-Citizenship for DACA
2-Immediate funding for 1300 miles of Trump wall

1-Potection status for DAPA
2-Ending chain migiration, replacing with merit based

1-Protection status for TPS
2-E-verify for all employers who have a business employing more then 40 people.

I still want 700 miles of double fencing funded from the secure border act of 2006. And Kate's law care to bargin for something so I can get those?

DACA is that EO that Obama enacted. Trump hasn't ever been in favor of it.

This is a good example of why I would not offer any compromise at all. Democrats have a history of not acting in good faith and not keeping their promises. I would not bother inviting them to any negotiations. Let them sit on the sidelines and the right should do whatever they want and live with the consequences. There is no benifit for the GOP to deal with people who operate in bad faith and if the roles were reversed, would not compromise with them.

That WOULD be the tact to take if there weren't anti-Trump GOP Elites in Congress who see this as a chance to oppose Trump.

No...I think Trump is doing this the right way. In effect, he is saying that he has already compromised. He didn't just toss Obama's EO in the trash. He has four conditions...that's all...and they can put whatever they want otherwise in a bill and he will sign it.

THAT'S his compromise. If they won't accept that...they risk losing the support of all the Dreamers.

I'm not a fan of the wall. Dollar for dollar, I'd rather spend that money on deportation aircraft and boats. The overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants are people who's visas expired but never left. The majority of those folks arrive by aircraft.

Question, who decides who "merits" immigration? I have read that the immigrants from Nigeria have higher education levels than the average American, but it seems the President feels they all live in huts. If you want merit based, then we should have a lottery for all those who apply for merit based immigration. I agree with doing away with chain immigration. I have a better plan for anchor babies. When the child is born the parents have a choice, leave the baby here with legal relatives or friends or take them back to the parents home country with an American passport so the anchor baby may reenter the USA when they want. The parents can not reenter except for short visits. No damn wall as it is an outdated idea. Increase border security using electronic means and additional agents. For the over 18 billion dollars even a partial wall will cost we can do a lot more electronically and with staff.

The "merit" should be on an individual level...not a national or racial level.

Democrats are under the false impression that they have more power than they do. Trump has the authority to end DACA whenever he wants and there's nothing congress can do to stop that. The only thing they can do is pass actual legislation to make it the law if the land and democrats can not do that without the support of many Republicans. They would need a 2/3rd supermajority to make it veto proof.

Trump is in charge. Democrats have almost nothing to bargain with. If dems think threatening to cut off funding for the gov is a winning play, let them do it. If Trump wants to offer DACA kids amnesty he should do it, but not because the dems have any leverage. He should do it if he believes it's the right thins to do. There is no need or reason to compromise with the left on this.
