I watched some of the committee hearing with the new Sec of Homeland Security. The Senator is 77 years old and has been in Congress since 1974-75. He had difficulty keeping his notes and train of thought together during his allotment of committee time. There are others who represent us, showing some fraying around the edges. I am against age discrimination, but these folks have way too much sway to be slipping.

term limits

i am not saying we kick people out after one or two terms

but career politicians are part of the issue

for senate...3 term limit (18 years)
for congress....something similar

we already have a two term limit on president...why not legislators?

The Supreme Court of Canada forces retirement at 75, maybe a similar idea or whatever their nearest election is.

I strongly oppose term limits like that for one simple reason, people should be able to keep supporting whoever they want without arbitrary limits. If the people of a state want to keep supporting a senator that has represented them for more than 20 years for serving them they should be able to. Presidents should not have term limits either for the same reason.

and so we get career politicians who have never worked a single day in their life

that have zero clue what being a middle class american is like

and they go from the poor house, to mega rich even though their salaries are comparable to middle managers in most of america

40 year senators for the D's or the R's are the problem....not the solution
