Trump is not a racist, so says African-American man

"Hey guys, I have one black friend, so I'm not a racist."

I don't care if some avuncular thomas doesn't think he's racist, his hand isn't on the pulse of people of color who feel marginalized by this president.

Wow, a lib using sterotype terms to describe a black person that doesnt share typical liberal views expected of a black person, how woke.

Who exactly has he marginalized and how?

Well said. Yes, the President is a sinner as we all are and as all former presidents are/were. He gets it wrong sometimes as we all do and as all former presidents did. But those of us who support him allow him to be a sinner, allow him to be wrong so long as he is trying to accomplish good, get it more right, do it better.

LOL. I know my Bible. There's a difference between a repentant and unrepentant sinner.

When Trump was asked if he has ever asked God for forgiveness he said NO.

Moderator Frank Luntz asked Trump whether he has ever asked God for forgiveness for his actions.

"I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don't think so," he said. "I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don't bring God into that picture. I don't."

Trump is just not a Christian. At least Obama understands Christianity. Trump doesn't even know what most atheists know. His ignorance is actually shocking.

Sigh. I guess I'll just have to accept that the I-hate-everything-Trump folks have no intention of even trying to understand anything different from the most hateful assigned talking points. But oh well. Do have a pleasant evening.

Well, case closed folks! The only reason to continue calling Trump a racist is if we can find at least two African Americans that say he is.

And we know you believe all professional research as you have stated.

Questioning someomes faith, shows how much you know about Christianity.

And what does that have to do with anything, especially the man you claim represents all that is good with America mocking the special Olympics?

I'm sorry but mocking the poor is evil. Trump is an evil man. He said himself he never needed to ask God for forgiveness.

So, we can just dismiss everything anyone does with "Oh, he's a sinner and we're all sinners?" That's ridiculous. It's not what the Bible teaches.

The Bible does teach that we should think of ourselves as the greatest of sinners. But here Trump is insulting poor people and as Christians, we should stand up for the poor. Why aren't you standing up for poor people who are being insulted by an arrogant rich man?

The conservative movement has only brought disrepute to Christ. It has turned people away from Christ because the "Christian" conservative leaders have become a bunch of pharisees--a brood of vipers---as Jesus referred to such frauds.

Jesus teaches humility. He teaches that the servant is the greatest of all. Despising the poor and insulting them is evil. You should stand up for the Truth. You can choose to follow God or a man. That's up to you.

Well said. Jesus was much closer to being a socialist than to anything in the fever dreams of today's American right-wingers.

If mocking the poor is evil what is mocking the disabled? Oh i know we excuse things we dont like about liberals huh?
Trumps faith is between he and God. Whats that have to do with his Presidency? Nothing thats what, just something else for you to cry about.

Its really weird, they refer to black people like they are not even people. Liberals talk about them like they are some subhuman life form government leech that depends on POTUS for everything.

The bible also says we are not to judge someone elses faith, that is between he and God. Which is what your original post was and now you want to start talking about a bunch of other stuff.

Classic liberal.

So racism doesn't qualify as an important thing?

Actual racism, absolutely it is.

I support him more now than I did before as well, but I started from zero, so....

Yeah, this is really pretty accurate. This narrative that his supporters think he's infallible comes primarily from folks entirely uninterested in what's actually being said.

Ok, but no acknowledgement that this was kind of racist? The definition of racism doesn't exclude Republicans.

No matter what he says, the right will find a way to rationalize it, excuse it, and I expect soon the "the KKK were all Democrats, therefore all Democrats are the real racists" posts will start very soon.

Trump is not a racist, so says Martin Luther King Jr's nephew who had meeting with the President

Oh, well if a black guy says it then it must be true.

"Racially ignorant and racially uninformed, but not racist in the traditional sense...." Praise indeed! That's quite a bar Trump reached there.

I thought this thread was a joke so I hadn't been clicking on it. It's like a joke article title from the Onion. Black man says Trump isn't racist? Well then it's settled. If you think Trump isn't racist because one guy says so, you definitely don't get it. And I personally don't think Trump considers other human beings enough to have the capacity to be racist. But this thread title and comically simplistic viewpoint of the issue is why we can't have a conversation about race.

I dont know if the man is racist or not. I do know the media has an uncanny way of portraying someone in a bad light when they choose to, and they can really twist around the facts as well.

Also, there's no audio of Trump calling Haiti a ****hole, and yet everybody just assumes he said it because well.....the media says he did. Funny thing is, the media wasnt in the room either when he said it, so how do they know for sure??? Only Durbin so far has accused Trump of saying it

Well, fortunately, you know better.

Yes I do. After a while, you eventually have to accept that when a person says and does enough racist things then he's probably racist. The "he says racist things but that doesn't mean he's racist in his heart" narrative has become a parody of itself.

Also, Farris's "exoneration" of Trump is that he's "racially ignorant," as if there is an entire population of people who are racist for completely informed and intelligent reasons.

Only Durbin said that Trump used the words verbatim in regard to Haitians, while there are four sources that confirm Trump basically did say it, perhaps in a slightly less offensive way or about a different country.

The funny thing is that every time the media reports Trump said something that multiple high ranking sources with a ton of credibility confirm, it's called fake news. Then it turns out that it was true and the people who called it fake news say "but he's right." I would prefer we discuss DACA because kicking people out of the country who came forward, trusting that they could earn a path to citizenship by working hard and staying out of trouble are getting screwed by Trump's tantrums. Not a single person in that room denies he was flipping out about allowing refugees into this country or working out a deal on DACA.
