Would change in libel laws hurt Trump as much as anyone else?

Today Trump said an FBI agent and his girlfriend, a DOJ lawyer, had committed treason for emailing about Trump during the campaign. This is the FBI agent who had been dismissed from the Russian investigation by Mueller for those emails. Trump has made many other such personal comments about people before and since he became president. If you lower libel laws, many of these people would probably have grounds for suing Trump for those statements. Thus the very laws he talks about changing might do him more harm than good.

Libel laws aren't going anywhere. The free speech warriors who want that to happen should read the rest of the First Amendment. Particularly the bit about freedom of the press.

It wouldn't hurt them to read them to read the part about freedom of religion, either.

Yet another bull**** comment from Trump to amp up his base of morons. He obviously doesn't know how the legal system works, but he seems fairly dumb in many areas as well.

Trump is easily the most libelous person in the country. I mean, he spent nearly 8 years proclaiming with his every breath that Obama is a foreign born muslim bent on destroying America. He makes up facts as he goes along and always shoots from the hip with no concern for facts or accuracy. Changing libel laws would hurt him the most.

I wish he'd start suing reporters. He tried that when a reporter claimed Trump was likely lying about his net worth, but the thing about it when you sue a reporter, his or her lawyers get to depose you, under oath.
