I'm not sure why you keep bringing up that it is unacceptable for use in college, it is widely used within society which was my entire point. If you don't believe me walk around town and simply ask 10 or more people what they believe someone means when they refer to a country as third world. Unless you are walking around a college campus most will say poor countries.
Yes, everyone knows that someone using the term third world is ignorantly using a pejorative against foreign nations in order to refer to the less developed world. It's ignorant; we can all see that. Well, except for the uneducated and those that refuse to be corrected.
I'm not arguing that people don't know what the person means. I'm arguing that it displays a deep and convicted ignorance resulting from enjoying using a pejorative against other nations.
In short: it's ignorant, stupid and bigoted to use the term in such a manner, especially after being corrected.
Do you now understand my point? Or is this still a fog for you.
