Why Oprah is not a good idea!!

No more celebrity presidents.

No more reality TEE VEE presidents,
No sports team owner presidents,
No more actor presidents.

No more celebrities.

I'm sick and tired of the search for sound leaders devolving into a contest for who has the BEST GIMMICK.

Sounds like you are ready to join my call for better work from the pro's.

Thanks to smarter people than myself, I remembered the two best reasons why Oprah is a terrible choice for President.
Much as I like her on the whole, she DID give us two HORRIBLE SCAM artists:

Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz.
That means that while Oprah has a well developed sense of social justice and a good sense of history, she is still nevertheless VERY gullible in fields like science, particularly psychology and the medical sciences.

No thanks, anyone that gullible will fall prey to the world's worst health care scam peddlers.
Haven't we been scammed enough the last decade?

Hard to keep up with all of the so-called 'pros' leaving DC already, months ahead of filing deadlines. At least 44 new house members is a great start, though 18 of them are running for senate, governor and POTUS.

At least 4 new senators from after the 2016s, with more on the way, along with plenty of special elections on the federal and state level ahead of the 2018s.

DEMs are foolish to think about POTUS 2020 until after the 2018s, with the house, senate and 142 remaps up for grabs, as we see today with North Carolina's house map thrown out by the appelate court 3-0 ...

kind of like how most of the "Never Trump" GOP voters suddenly fell in line and voted for the orange messiah?

You guys are going to lose again if you fail to realize that you lost because of people who voted for obama the last time.

You guys are going to lose again if you fail to realize that you lost because of people who voted for obama the last time.

That's not why the Democrats lost at all. but keep repeating that lie if it makes you feel better.

1. Dr. Mehmet Oz
2. Dr. Phil
3. Twenty years of sensationalist tabloid daytime schlock TV talk show episodes.
4. A huge 20 year "question mark" relationship with Stedman Graham.

Can you imagine Dr. Oz the QUACK in charge of health care? Haven't we been scammed enough?
Can you imagine Dr. Phil as a White House chief adviser?

Look, Oprah is brilliant in many areas, she is indeed a natural born leader, she IS indeed a self made success story. She does have some incredibly good social and moral values, from a liberal perspective.
The world loves this lady.
That said, she clearly flunked science class, and despite her good heart, has a gullibility problem in some areas. And if Dr. Phil isn't a sign of her gullibility, then she harbors some real evil in there.
I sincerely hope she's just gullible instead.

This is what happens when you look to celebrities as presidential timber, it's a BAD IDEA, it's ALWAYS BEEN a bad idea, and just picking nicer and better celebrities doesn't change the fact that it is still a VERY BAD IDEA.

So, much as I would relish the idea of having a black woman like Oprah in the White House if only to make Republican heads explode, it is still, as I just said, a VERY bad idea.
It would be entertaining for a while, and then Dr. Phil would open his mouth and we might all wind up dead. Or Dr. Oz would design our new health care system and again, we might all wind up dead.
Or Oprah might also try her hand at foreign policy, something else I know she's lacking in.

And we might still all wind up dead...even though YOU get a car, and YOU get a car, and YOU get a car!!
We'd still all be dead. ;)

And Kim Jong Un might wind up with a bunch of new cars.

That's not why the Democrats lost at all. but keep repeating that lie if it makes you feel better.

Oh silly dependent class liberal, The blue wall fell, those obama voters in the rust belt went to trump because she ignored the white working class vote.

Why do you think she lost to an entertainer?

Trump was the first Republican I wanted to see win

I bought into the Obama stuff in 2008. Plus, I did not want to see John "Never saw a war I did not want to fight" McCain win.

And I was not impressed with Romney at all. Though he does have a vacation home near me which would be pretty cool.

That's not what happened at all. She lost to an entertainer because she lost the support Obama received, but there's very little evidence that most, or even half, or even a tiny fraction, went to Trump. But you go ahead and keep putting forth the talking points your political masters tell you to.

That's insane, the blue wall fell and went to trump because the she ignored them and they felt marginalized by obama's comments on thier jobs future. What political masters?

Did the rust belt which has been democrat for years not go for trump? yes or no? Get a grip man.

I live a mile from trump's golf course in NJ.

They geofence my drone flights when he's in town. lol

Did you actually take the time, and review the exit polls and how demographics voted, and how they compared to the 2008 and 2012 elections?

The only thing anyone knows about Oprah is based on a curated public persona expressed mostly in environments controlled by her. She’s extremely gullible, easily influenced, and her problem solving skills are limited to throwing money around then walking away. None of those are good qualities for a President. Just because someone can amass a personal fortune by entertaining people with the free time to watch talk shows doesn’t mean mean they’re qualified to lead a civilization.
You might want to get used to it. Who else is there? Seriously who? Bernie already lost. The only candidate that can win is a slightly left liberal. The left needs to make some compromises. Angry candidates can't win. They need to get over being screwed by the party and move on. It's only politics.

I know many of you out there want someone from outside politics to run our country, but how has that worked out with Trump. I know Reagan was an actor, but he learned how to be a politician when he was governor of California. Oprah would be just another outsider who has no idea how things work in Washington and that is not a good idea at all. I don't think we can stand to have another no nothing person go to Washington lead our country.

I agree. Although Oprah has a totally different persona than Trump. I would say a positive persona vs. his negative one. She still hasn't any governmental experience. Another fish out of water so to speak. I've said many times what the democrats need is a fresh young face in 2020 preferably not from the Northeast. A governor in my opinion would be ideal or another young senator.

Someone of high character, no name caller or feud maker or someone with a thin skinned ego. Someone like Reagan or Bill Clinton, previous governors.

You want to go with polls. I lie to pollsters. I am not the only one.

Unlike you, I am looking at results, so again, are you denying the blue wall fell?

- I'm not denying the blue wall fell

- There's no evidence that a substantial amount of Obama voting Democrats went for Trump. None, nada, zip.

I hope the Democrats don't make the same mistake the Republicans did and go with a Hollywood Celebrity with no political experience as their nominee. Granted, Oprah isn't the loudmouth lunatic Trump is, but IMO, she still has no business in politics. If the Dems were smart, they would learn from the mistakes of the GOP, and choose wisely in 2020.

I wonder about that. Perhaps both parties have drifted so far to the left and right there isn't having an acceptable candidate nominated to the vast majority of Americans possible anymore. Both parties have shrunk, 50 years ago 80% of all Americans affiliated or identified themselves with the two major parties. Independents were lower than 20%. By moving more and more away from middle America, today only around 55% of all Americans identify themselves with one or the other major party. Those Americans with no party affiliation is up to 45% roughly. Those 45% have no say in whom the major parties nominate, just the remaining hard core. But they do have a say who wins in the general. It seems we are getting a disconnect on whom is nominated with most Americans.

Last year according to Gallup 25% of all Americans didn't want either Trump or Clinton to become their next president. 54% of all independents, the non-affiliated didn't want either one to be their next president. Yet, that was the choices given and the results was Trump is now president. I think this is becoming the norm.

Oprah would certainly give a kinder and gentler face to the presidency, she would be well liked by the majority of Americans. But being well liked as a person doesn't equate into job approval numbers or doing the job this nation needs a president to do. Gallup comes in handy here too, Americans liked Obama as a person. His favorable numbers or those who viewed him favorably as a person were usually in the high 50's, sometimes reaching the lower 60% range. But his job approval for most of his presidency was in the high 40's to very low 50's in which Obama averaged 47% job approval for his entire 8 years. One can like the person in the white house personally, as I assume most of us would of Oprah. But don't like the job he or she is doing or their policies.

We need to stop electing people to be the CEO of the Nation that have not even worked in the mail room, hold office so we can see your abilities and then we might consider you for promotion, in other words earn your spurs first.

You know, I think we are very divided, and regardless of who the next president is, Democrat, Republican, Governor, Senator, or a celebrity like Oprah, about half the country will hate the next president, just like half the country hates the current president. Truth is, I don't put much stock in approval ratings, or job approval ratings anymore, because partisanship is what rules in today's political climate. I personally don't think we'll ever be truly united behind a president again, barring another horrible event like 9-11, and even that didn't last, as Bush left office with historically low approval ratings.

I want Rush Limbaugh

Or however runs Disney and replace EVERYONE in DC with imagineers. Nation would be fixed in a few months.

We are divided by our own system. We have created a system where we are treated differently in terms of taxs etc instead of being applied equally to all citizens as it should be. This gives are politicians the power to use one group of citizens against another and by themselves votes.

We have also lost the power to disagree respectfully. Opposing opinions must be met with outrage, and terms such as racist, homophobe etc.

We now question the motives and intent of a person attempting to do something rather than understand that most people are generally good people and want the best for the country, just differ on how to get there.

The lifespan of a great society is usually about 200 years, so we are passed that.
