The concern is that people become used to this and consider it as the new norm. Trump becoming president of this country is a little like a cowboy getting on a wild horse for the first time. For a while, the horse is going to kick around and try to get the rider off. But if the rider persists, the animal will just fatigue and gradually get used to it. It is very possible that if Trump can hang on for a long enough, America will gradually come to think this is all just normal behavior and just how things are supposed to be. We may be, the good stayed for Trump, the Koch brothers, Goldman Sachs, NRA gun manufacturers, and whoever else wants to get a nice ride on our backs.
Global trends are in Trump's favor: nationalism, xenophobia, pushback against the expansion of gay rights, women's rights and minorities. Add to that the move toward ever-increasing wealth inequality and the pulling back of government services---let's just say that I am glad to be in my mid-50's and not in my early 20's.
