I remember all of the uproar when Reverend Wright's "God damn America" comments were aired. I remember how so many Conservatives were simply aghast at the thought that President Obama could attend such a church were such comments were made (even though Wright's comments were several years old). I also remember President Obama making a public apology and denouncing the actions of his pastor.

Contrast that with the hypocrisy of Trump's Access Hollywood tape of bragging about grabbing women by the "*****". At the time it went public - when his winning was doubtful - Republicans like McConnell, Chavitz and others were quick to denounce him. Once it started to appear that the tape wasn't going to sink his campaign, they all did 180 degree shift. So much for Christian conviction and morality.

Now, in all fairness, Trump did apologize for the comments. Sadly, he has digressed lately with ridiculous charges that it wasn't even his voice. So, this means that he actually apologized for something that he now claims that he didn't even say.....:)

Sadly, the Trump presidency has significantly lowered the level of what some in this country consider "Right and Wrong". Regardless of what economic positives the Trump administration may have accomplished, his degradation of our morality and perception of America abroad may be felt for many years to come..

"God Bless America in 2018". We are certainly going to need it.

Interesting comparison and what you consider which is worse. I would say that choosing a church whose pastor was anti-American, anti-Semitic and anti who knows what else is fairly horrible. Combine that with a spouse that first thought well of the country in 2008 and you have quite a cocktail of hatred.

I would take a person who talks like a pig anyday and twice on Sunday over the guy who keeps company with the above.

The good news for the Democrats is that all rules are off for their 2020 nominee.

It is an interesting comparison.

Had Obama said, "God Damn America," then it would be a better comparison. Had Trump's pastor talked of grabbing women by the *****, it would have been a better comparison. As it is, well, it's more like having an anti American friend vs. being anti American yourself.

You certainly seem to come up with some odd comparisons in your search for relevant whataboutism. In another thread, you want to compare Mueller to Starr. In this thread, you want to compare religion and *****. What's next? Some sort of connection between Mother Theresa and Ayatollah Khomeini?

Well considering their 2016 nominee they can't have many if any rules left on a candidate.

2016 will always be the Polished Turd contest

No choosing a church for 22 years with an anti-American, anti-Semitic (which you failed to mention) pastor says everything about the congregation. Not like it is hard to find another church in Chicago.

Is it any of this stuff that you particularly find "unamerican"?

Wright's incendiary comments include:

• "The government gives them [African Americans] the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

• After September 11, 2001, he said: "We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back into our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost."

• "It just came to me within the past few weeks, y'all, why so many folks are hating on Barack Obama. He doesn't fit the model. He ain't white, he ain't rich, and he ain't privileged. Hillary fits the mold. Europeans fit the mold, Giuliani fits the mold. Rich white men fit the mold. Hillary never had a cab whiz past her and not pick her up because her skin was the wrong colour. Hillary never had to worry about being pulled over in her car as a black man driving in the wrong… I am sick of Negroes who just do not get it. Hillary was not a black boy raised in a single parent home, Barack was. Barack knows what it means to be a black man living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people. Hillary can never know that. Hillary ain't never been called a nigger. Hillary has never had her people defined as non-persons."

• Bill Clinton "did the same thing to us that he did to Monica Lewinsky."

I still don't think that's as bad as denigrating half the human race. Also Trump said all that stuff himself. Why settle for listening to a bigot. Just cut out the middle man and go for it!

The churchie folk pedophile congregations are primarily further south that the South Side.

Hey, while comparing, why not throw in Saint Teresa:

“There is something beautiful in seeing the poor accept their lot, to suffer it like Christ’s Passion. The world gains much from their suffering,” Mother Teresa once told the unamused Christopher Hitchens.

That's exactly what the power structure wants; subjugation, compliance, obedience.

That's an interesting comparison. I never thought of this, but you're right! Wright is better than Trump! Since Obama never actually said those words, he just sat near them. Trump actually has said similar stuff about America and Conservatives don't bat an eye. "He's telling it like it is." Even though he often isn't and the rest of the time he is incomprehensible.

How about who acts like a pig too?
And who built a dune across an 80 yr olds property so she couldn't see the North Sea after she wouldn't sell to him?
Who screws contractors
Who has a website devoted to his lies
Who dragged his wife by the hair before raping her after she laughed at his latest weave
A very small man in addition to his fingers
We could go on but my stomach is hurting

I'm just saying he/she can not release taxes, grab a bunch of *****, say things that are borderline racist...

Well, we always have the forum version of click bait and spammers on this board. Which one could you be?

Know this, you aren’t fooling anyone with the assault on the GDP forum with your nonsense.
