Obama and Trump talk about their daughters

I remember thinking about this during the election. I have a daughter who is about 3 so it was a pretty big shock to me to see the Republican nominee always reducing women down to how they look. To him the highest complement a female can receive is a 10 rating. Luckily, people who think about women like Trump does are in the minority.

What the **** does that have to do with this thread? We are talking about the behaviors of fathers. You want to talk about the behaviors of someone's children, then start a new thread.

I remarried inheriting two pre-teen daughters. The line that caught me was "the first time you see your daughter in heels...." and the great communicator had no words. Neither do I, because when they start making that change, from gangly to graceful and you see them dressed up, the feelings are indescribably but in there is protectiveness, fathers were young men once....

And what ha always shocked me is the quote that Trump would "date" his daughter....a man who has objectified women all his life and continues to do so sees his own daughters as sex objects.

I was only a replacement dad, and that makes me shiver

Dude his comment was so creepy, it should have sent him packing. But, apparently Evangelical Republicans don't mind electing someone who wants to schtoop his won dawdur.

I seldom had much praise for Obama, but that was based on policy and his administration. Here we see a huge and distinct differences in character. In Obama you hear the concern for his daughters in light of the coming onslaught of horny young men, not just the physical but the emotional turmoil of teen relationships. It comes as a shock when that cute, innocent little girl is now a woman and his demeanor reflected that...and every dad knew what he was expressing without words.

Trump's comment, like all of them, are about him. "I would date her!" Comments only reflecting the women are meat mentality of the 50's.

That schism tells me more about the state of the union than anything else. You are in my prayers
 
Good thing Ivanka has all of Kushner's strength to defend her honor.

Election night made me feel nauseous in large part due to how Trump views women. I am no fan of Hillary, but the one thing I was anticipating about her victory was that my daughter would have no memory of a United States where there hadn't been a female president. Instead we elected someone straight out of the 1950's. There are so many things to hit Trump on, but that was the one thing that actually physically disgusted me about him.

I straddle two cultures, yours and mine, Canadian. At the time of the election, BC had a woman premier, as did five other provinces. Our federal cabinet is 50% women with a woman in the third most important portfolio, foreign affairs; there could not possibly be two men with greater differences, Trudeau a shirtless idol and a womanizing Trump.

Like many Americans I dreaded having to listen to Hilary another day, but as the election wore on I growing feeling of needing to either puke of have a bowl filling dump.

Either choice was unacceptable to me and I guess just enough Americans to ensure the worst of all possible worlds could come together.
