McCain to miss Tax bill vote

Ah yes Arizona, home of Sheriff Arpaio and the esteemed governor Jan Brewer...yeah they need to do a lot better. McCain stands 10 feet above those clowns.

Many magnitudes greater in culpability he carries for the wreckage that is the USA.

Yes I remember when Vets and POW's were honored and respected in this country. But then Trump came along. And now Trumpsters are wishing for McCain's death.

Compassionate Conservatism is long gone in this country. It was wavering for years, but Trump has now put it out of it's misery.

Long long ago getting captured does not in any way diminish his culpability for his bad work that came after.

And this has nothing to do with Trump other than he has good sense on such matters.

Please try to focus.

This asshole needs to retire, where the **** is all that honor he is supposed to possess?

When we cant do the job, when we know we cant do the job, we must give someone else a shot at it, for the good of the people.

The voters elected an elderly man with a history of melanoma in 1993 with recurrence in 2000. The question wasn't IF he was going to need time off, but more "when",

I am curious if he is trying to negotiate a replacement. He does not seem happy with how things are going and likely would not want a Trump asskisser to replace him.

Regardless.....it is up to the voters of Arizona to throw him under the bus....otherwise it is his decision.

And he kept getting re-elected........

Trump seemed to have harsh words for POWs.....I guess only losers get captured.

Yeah, he's a loser. Your messiah said so.

I mean the Arizona voters elected him, but your messiah doesn't like him. So the sooner he dies the better? Right?

Disgusting. And even more disgusting are the Vets who support Trump and people like you.

You can only wish to be as good and courageous a man as McCain. And I don't like Republican politicians.

What "bad work" would that be?

You are free to chatter and I am free to call your comments a waste of bandwidth,

As much as I would prefer the tax bill doesn’t get passed, if he can’t do his job he needs to retire.

I agree he needs to retire, I can understand a dying man wanting to spend the holidays with his family, but as a senator he should be able to perform his job, or hand it off to his replacement who can. He has been in politics a long time, he just needs to let it go and enjoy what is left of his time on earth with his family instead of playing a grudge match with trump.

Best wishes to Senator McCain. He has served his country with honor. I hope he is well cared for and is feeling good enough to enjoy the holiday season with his family.

Well said. I wonder what is the reason for all the right wing open hostility we see against Senator McCain? For some , he cannot die fast enough or in enough pain to make them truly elated.

You wonder? I don't. It started when that louse of a President denigrated McCain on the campaign trail, and his loyalists fell into line behind him. If Trump doesn't like McCain, neither do they.

McCain has more integrity than most people in this country, and he sacrificed more than Trump and his entire band of loyalists put together.

If your analysis is correct, and I have little doubt that it is, Trump is a poison to the Republican Party and the only remaining question is will the poison kill the host or merely make it extremely sick?

I see on Morning Joe just now they said that a poll showed that young voters under 35 prefer a Democrat to represent them in Congress over a generic Republican by a margin of 48 points!!!!! With numbers like that - the GOP is in serious danger of losing an entire generation of voters that will be around for the next forty to fifty years determining who wins elections on every level. And Trump bears a large share of the blame this.

Right now the poison is killing the host. My party is allowing Trump (and his troll Bannon) to destroy it, which is exactly what Trump, a lifelong liberal, wanted to do. It's damn depressing.

Joe Scarborough made a good point this morning. Trump is destroying the GOP for generations to come, and making young people want to be socialists.

Before the election - before his nomination - I said that Trump is the enema the Republicans need to purge themselves of the infection of right libertarians and tea party right wingers who tried to take over the existing party rather than start their own. I never expected Trump to win - but it looks like the prediction could still happen - only by a far longer and more circuitous rout than I ever envisioned.

Tried to? No, with the help of the Con Media machine like Fox the GOP has been taken it over, the far right has got full control.

I can't feel to sorry for the GOP, for years they have looked at Fox news and the Limbaugh types in the media as allies and they stood by an winked and laughed when Trump was running around the country spewing his Birther propaganda. So the far right monster that has now taken over the GOP is partly their own fault. And now that monster is biting the GOP right in the ass.

Good comparison with the monster you created coming back to wreak its own revenge upon its maker.

He's one of the great men of our time.

In regards to his military service, yes. In regards to his political career, no. He was 1/5 of the Keating 5 and he quite often got his jollies going against his own party as well as his constituents.

His participation in the Keating 5 scandal for one.

IIRC he was not found guilty of anything. So my question is: so what?
