Trey Gowdy used $150,000 of taxpayer money to settle claim with a fired staffer

The settlement isn't the issue. The issue is who paid it. I vote for the RNC or Gowdy himself.

I can understand that but, frankly, getting sued is a regular hazard of the job so I'm not totally pissed about a fund being set aside for such a purpose. Sure, disclose who it was used to defend and why but otherwise, it's part of the job.

unfortunately, the employer is on the hook for the wrongful actions of its employee who is engaged in performing the employer's work

if gowdy was found doing something wrong in his personal capacity, the employer (fed govt) would have basis to litigate to exclude itself from responsibility for his actions. it did not

I hate Trey Gowdy but I was going to say the same thing. If I discriminate against someone at work, my employer would end up paying the bill in a settlement.

BUT I'll add that if the claims had merit I may lose my job. In this case, the people are the employers and the people should be allowed to decide if they want to keep Trey Gowdy in his job. It's wrong to secretly settle claims by government employees. The people are the employer and have a right to know what their employees are doing.

That " FBI employee " headed up the pre-Mueller FBI investigation and used Hillary Clinton and DNC funded opposition research to obtain a FISA warrant to surveill and unmask the opposition candidate prior to a Presidential election

That " FBI employee " as not only fired from Muellers team, but demoted from acting head of the FBIs counter intelliegence division to human rescources

Gowdy went too easy on Rosenstein in my opinion

A problem was discovered and that was taken care of. There is no evidence that this employee did anything wrong or unethical or illegal to compromise the investigation.

Human beings in government service often come with personal political views. That is reality.
