In May, CNN reported that Sessions had failed to disclose meetings he had with the Russian ambassador when he was a senator. Justice Department officials told CNN that Sessions had not listed those meetings on a security clearance form, even though the form says to list “any contact” with the “foreign government” or its “representatives” in the past seven years.

The CNN report led to breathless coverage by the rest of the legacy media, who painted the non-disclosures as a Trump official trying to hide problematic meetings with the Russians.

However, CNN admitted early Monday that FBI emails prove that Sessions’ explanation for the non-disclosures is accurate.

Just another one to put on the list of fake news from CNN

The last week for the media has been awful. But like President Trump says: Fake news!

When you see your obligation as a "journalist" to oppose Trump in every way imaginable it's easy to get simple stories wrong.

It took them almost 8 months to walk the story back that Sessions had done something terribly wrong and painted him as guilty and hiding something while the Democrats in the Senate used every opportunity to find a microphone and a camera to play up a false story. And all Sessions did was follow the directions the FBI gave him.

I don't understand. If they put out a significant amount of fake news, what is so important about this particular one? Don't they put out fake news stories on a daily basis? If so, I wonder why CNN only corrected this? Why not just keep up the lies that they spew every day?

Considering that the Senate went after him, R's and D's, guess they must also be FAKES.
Considering no mention of this by Sessions.
Considering he stated no contacts with Russian Officials
Considering it states, all Foreign contacts.

Why did Sessions not produce the email showing he was advised he did not need to note these meetings??

Meanwhile the usual's are all up in arms.

“A legal expert who regularly assists officials in filling out the form disagrees with the Justice Department’s explanation, suggesting that Sessions should have disclosed the meetings,” CNN asserted.

Actually many act like they have a mission in life to oppose "Trumpism", not just Trump but what he drives for, what is supporters want done, any objections to the UTOPIAN DREAMS of the left must be stomped on to prevent them from spreading. Getting Trump gone will be just the start of the program.

Remember your history lessons?

Freedom of expression is important for democracy, because it enables the public to participate in making decisions based on the free flow of information and ideas. Without it, people would be unable to make informed decisions.

The press used to take this seriously.

I think they should vett their sources a bit more before reporting something important like that. Everyone is in such a rush to be the first to break a story, I get that, but for gods sake be accurate.

Reporters make mistakes. In the net world, where stories go viral, pressure is much higher to get the story out. And again, they made mistakes, then and now. But not near the levels that Trump speaks to.
Can the press be biased, yes. Just look to Rupert Murdoch who has stated he maintains Editorial control.

Was reading this article by Carl Berstein.
He and Woodward made a serious error in their Watergate reporting.
With Trumps attacks on the press, would they have been fired in the present hate the press environment we are in? Yes, no, maybe?

Carl Bernstein: I wonder if we would have been fired today for mistake in Watergate story | TheHill

Veteran reporter Carl Bernstein on Sunday questioned whether he and colleague Bob Woodward would have been fired in today's media climate for a mistake in their coverage of the Watergate scandal.

"We said that the principal assistant of the president of the United States had been implicated in grand jury testimony. In fact, he had not been implicated in grand jury testimony. Today, I wonder if we would have been fired for that mistake instead of continuing on the story,” Bernstein said on CNN’s “Reliable Sources.”

“We are in a hot house ... and attacking the press is the basic element that too many demagogues in our culture have used to whip up this cold civil war and especially to appeal to the base of the president of the United States,” he continued.

His comments follow calls from President Trump for specific reporters to be fired for recent errors.

Breaking news by 5 minutes gets the story, and the readers that follow updates.

Trump said he fired Flynn for lying about his meeting with Kislyak, was that true?

President Trump has made 1,318 false or misleading claims over 263 days

The press is struggling to keep up with Trump's lies. At least when they make a mistake they admit it. You can trust the press to admit its mistake.

Has Kelly ever admitted he lied about what Congresswoman Wilson said in her speech? What Kelly said not true. We know that much. Was there ever a retraction of any kind?
