If racism was as wide spread as so many have claimed over the last year, there would be no need to manufacture incidents like this... Yet here's another one trying to prop up the victim hood culture that leftists have been cultivating for so many years now.

Sailor staged racist vandalism, Navy says

A sailor who claimed someone scrawled racial slurs on his bed aboard an aircraft carrier —sparking a viral Facebook post in the process — staged the incident himself, the Navy said Friday.


Marquie Little, a 27-year-old African American seaman, posted photos to Facebook on Nov. 15 under an alias that showed his rack on the carrier George H.W. Bush covered in trash and racial slurs.


“I proudly serve the Navy and this is what I’m receiving in return,” he wrote in the post.


“It’s not my first time being called a word such as that,” the aviation boatswain’s mate airman said in a phone interview later that month. “It puzzled me as to who would do it and why they would do it.”


But on Friday Cmdr. Dave Hecht, a spokesman for Naval Air Force Atlantic, said “a thorough investigation” conducted with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service found inconsistencies in the sailor’s account.


“A NCIS-supported command investigation following claims of racially-motivated vandalism aboard the (carrier) has determined that the alleged victim staged the incident himself,” Hecht said in an email.

The Navy incident follows another one this fall at the Air Force Academy preparatory school, where racial slurs were found written on the dorm message boards of five black cadet candidates.


The Air Force later said that one of those five black cadet candidates had admitted to writing the slurs.

The fact that a few folks stage vehicle accidents, in order to collect fraudulent insurance proceeds, does not mean that legitimate vehicle accident claims are not widespread.

Oh boy, a whole two incidents! Out of..... and let's use the 2015 numbers, because those are the most recent I could find.....

"5,850 criminal incidents and 6,885 related offenses that were motivated by bias against race, ethnicity, ancestry, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender, and gender identity."

In a population exceeding 300 M that is a relatively small percent.

That's 2015, likely due to Obama's divisive policies. In 2017 hate crimes are so few that the aggrieved have no choice but to create fraudulent claims just to tell a story.

False reports of gun theft don't mean that guns don't get stolen. False accusations of rape doesn't mean that rape doesn't happen. Yadda yadda.

Why on Earth act like one "fake" hate crime means there aren't hate crimes?

That's not really much of any argument. In fact, the fact that 10,000+ racists actually act on their racism by committing a racially motivated crime, that suggests a lot more racism than gets acted on in the form of crime.

Therefore, your notion that racism is widespread and rampant is a statistical myth.

However I will agree that it is growing of late. Largely thanks to people who blow it out of proportion. (Like Democrats)

Fake hate crimes certainly don't mean that no real hate crimes exist, but comparing them to false reports of gun theft is a bad comparison.

A report of a gun theft (false or real) is likely to remain at a local level and the person doing the reporting likely has no political agenda.

Hate crime reports, however, often get wide coverage and the faker has an agenda, to promote the idea that racism/bigotry is more rampant than it is. Many of these hoaxes are sensational in nature and, as a result, law enforcement takes additional precautions (at taxpayer expense) and the media runs with a false narrative.

The fakers and hoaxers, in my opinion, should face the same punishment the perpetrators would have faced, had the accusations been real.

That's an absurd therefore. There's enough racism that 10,000 people act on it each year by committing a crime motivated it by it; that overwhelmingly implies a whole lot more racism that doesn't get acted on the form of crime.

Someone would be wrong to try to put an exact number on it, but it would be truly bizarre if the number of racists who don't commit racist crimes was not significantly larger than the numbers who do.

What's absurd is assuming that the inclinations of a meagerly fractional proportion of a population is indicative of a larger problem.
On the level of a conspiracy theorist.
