Alabama, Proof that Lincoln Should have let the South Go

Why are these morons still part of this great country?

Oh yeah. Abe had this grand vision. What a fool.

Lincoln violated the constitution, and his plans sparked a civil war, but I would not call him a fool. Lincoln was very wise in many areas, he knew the radical republicans plan for reconstruction would breed racism among the south and contempt for the north, keeping the country divided. He knew ending slavery off the bat would cripple the souther economy and in turn the slaves who were freed, he wanted an over time buyback of slaves, to give the south a chance to transition it's economy away from slavery as it's main pillar. Lincoln wanted the south and north to be united as a single country, while many republicans then wanted the south to be subservant and inferior to the north, lincoln did everything he believed to be best to keep the union intact, even if he bypassed the constitution to do so.

Lincoln is not responsible for what alabama is today, if any president is it is grant, who ignored the warnings of lincoln and johnson and used reconstruction as a means of punishment and oppression rather than as a means to unite the country once again. Lincoln was assassinated and johnson impeached, the impeachment done by republicans and I suspect republicans were behind lincolns death as southernors had nothing to gain from him dying as he kept the radical elements in the republican party in check, while the radical republicans could not stand lincoln and johnsons moderate approach.
