A 2016 Paul Simon Public Policy Institute poll found Illinoisans cited taxes as the No. 1 reason for wanting to leave the state.

Illinois lost $4.75 billion in adjusted gross income, or AGI, on net to other states in tax year 2015. That’s also an all-time high.

While residents saw $6.35 billion in adjusted gross income, or AGI, move into Illinois from other states, $11.10 billion moved out of Illinois to another state.

Aren’t taxes wonderful. They create such trickle up prosperity. Make it attractive for businesses and people. It’s simply utopia... spreading the wealth around.

Illinois has had this problem now for 3-years running.

I guess they should just raise taxes further.

Add the crime, and well... you have the fruits of Socialism ripening.

And the national Democrat party is against tax cuts. Smart move. So long as you’re in the minority, you have my full 100% support for such idiocies.

Dig grave. Dig grave deep. Dig grave deeper. Not deep enough... keep digging.

Hopefully, the Democrats leaving, don’t bring their Democrat vote with them. They should realize what made their current communities unbearable, and make a mental course correction.

Well now there is both what you pay and what you get, let's not forget that in Illinois one does not get much, because the state is so broken.

You get crime, unemployment, high taxes, and it has been pretty much a Democrat dominated Legistalture since 1975.

I think that’s a wonderful ROI if you’re a Democrat.

I think you’d want to elect one of the Socialist State Senators from there to show us how it’s done nationally. Oh snap!!! We did. With deplorable results. How quickly we forget... with that type of memory lapse, you’d think I am a Democrat.

Yeah the trickle down theory worked so well in Kansas didn't it? I bet it's the most prosperous in the nation, oh wait, it isn't.

ROTFLOL... so they should follow the Illinois/Obama school of Socialism?

Getting back to Kansas, the Wall Street Journal reported that although its economy did not perform as expected after the tax cuts, that is partly due to weakness in agriculture and energy, two important sectors of its economy. And its unemployment rate is 3.7 percent, below the national average. Hardly a nightmare, as Robinson calls it.

Don?t blame Kansas woes on trickle-down - San Antonio Express-News

You can’t tax yourself to prosperity... ever.

Sweden’s growth was due to Capitalism, and since the late 80’s have been seeking to gut the failed socialist schemes that took off during the 60’s and 70’s. The problem is, once you give someone goodies, once you buy their votes, it’s not easy to take the candy away.

Just look at the Careless Affordable Care Act (CACA) created by the deceiver Obama, John Gruber the arrogant liar and deceiver, and the Democrats. They created a turd as large as Mt. Rainier, and Republicans had difficulty trying to repeal a bit of legistaltion that tripled costs.

If Kansas didn’t Cut taxes... they’d be even worse off... but Socialists need their class warfare tools to divide people... and the money of others to buy votes.

The problem with your argument is that the political disaster that is Illinois was decades in the making, and was facilitated by R's supporting ideas and plans that were clearly bad for the state long term but which solved immediate problems, often political. Nearly everyone was irresponsible, over a very long time.

And now the health of Chicago is at great risk, and if Chicago collapses as looks likely there is no hope, so now with everyone being broke and with the political system being deeply broken and with danger everywhere it is hard to see any way out.

I am so glad that I got out.

I'm impressed! Unlike a lot of your republican colleagues you are calling it like it is.

I am a Zen Socialist, which I say is more Left than Right, and I am also a member of the the Truth Teller Tribe, so you should always expect the truth from me.

The State has been run primarily and almost solely by Democrats for 40-years.

Yes, Socialism can destroy fast (Careless Affordable Care Act (CACA)... Venezuela) and slower (USSR, Illinois), but it always destroys. It is an ideology of destruction, and results in barbaric populous.

About 20 years actually, and increasingly so, but we were talking about how state politics was broken, was unable to get the work done, way back in the 80's....it was conventional wisdom that the state was broken.

The D's have since 2002 been leading the charge to make the financial problems worse, that much is clear.

And notice how little the gross failure of the Illinois D's gets mentioned by the so-called journalists.

"That would not be "productive"".
