Alabama and Tribalism

For those outside the country, America is seen to be at the moral cross roads.

It now appears Moore who is an accused child molester and very possibly a pervert will become the Republican senator.

I hear Alabamans say they are "choosing the lesser of two evils" meaning they would rather have a pervert because he is a Republican rather than a Democrat who is not a pervert and is a fine upstanding man.

What does this all mean? Is America on the verge of moral decay? Using their line of thinking, it can be said they would rather have Hitler if he was a Republican.

Come spend a few months with me here in Afghanistan.....i'll show you tribalism to such a degree it'll force you to rethink your hyperbolic statements a bit.

Your use of the phrase known 'pedophile' shows unconscionable bias
The pedophile thing rings hallow when the events are limited to 35+ years ago. That doesn’t fit the science of how pedophilia works.

So a legal definition of statute of limitations makes it ethical? Is that how pedophilia works?

Moore has been run from office twice for violating federal court orders. He has an almost Yosemite Sam-like guns-are-for-fun fetish, thinks homosexuality should be criminalized and ain't too big on women's rights, either.

The hebephilia accusations (very highly corroborated ones, by the way) are pretty much the icing on this turd cupcake. In what alternate universe is this a man that should be representing ANYONE other than himself in court?

And yet disgusted Alabama voters are still willing to vote for him over a Democrat because they are even more sickened and repulsed by liberals and their dishonest media.

Congratulations!

My post could not have been more clear! It's hard to misinterpret or not understand but you managed to do so.
BTW, the supreme court just today upheld Trump travel ban from 6 countries, in your mind are the SC members Nazi's also for doing so?
Trump after the fact added two more countries to the band & eventually he'll add more.

Moore in a landslide:
US Senate - Alabama Special Election Winner
Thu 12/12 951 Roy Moore wins Alabama special election -460
9:00AM 952 Field wins Alabama special election +320

"The rumor-mill process of developing false stories has been a part of Alabama politics for at
least the last 60 years," said political scientist Anne Permaloff of Auburn University at Montgomery.'

Alabama voters still remember 'Republican candidate Steve Windom’s race for lieutenant governor in 1998 when he
was accused by a former prostitute of rape and sodomy. The accuser, Melissa Myers Bush, later admitted
in court that she accepted money to make false allegations.’

Just so you know, I don't give a **** about Hillary.

You cannot compare the two cases anyway.

40 year old accusations are different than an actual current event that was televised.

It doesn't matter if YOU don't give a **** about Hillary. Trump does give a ****, and Fox News gives a ****, and so does Breitbart and InfoWars. That's your side, guy.

And the accusations against Trump are not 40 years old - the latest are less than half that.

Well, backwards people do backwards things.

Jesus. You Godwinned your own post out the gate.;)

America isn’t on the verge of moral decay. It’s deep down in the canyon.

Let’s take a walk... we permit live abortions because not to restricts the rights of women... we are wasting GENERATIONS of our youth in broken inner cities that are war zones and can’t provide even a rudimentary education... our healthcare is so damned expensive with such high deductibles that tens of millions can’t even afford to use it... our congressmen are bought off by their favorite lobbyists... to create more problems than they fix... our national debt is $20.5 trillion dollars... by many professionals, it has now become so large that it is impossible to pay off... our deficit spending last year alone was $552 billion and we just keep spending... we owe our souls to foreign governments who finance over 45% of our debt by investing in our bonds... both political parties are so partisan, they wouldn’t work together to turn on a water hose to save a baby dying of thirst... it is virtually impossible to get rid of incumbents to turn things around... we have a “Dont you DARE gore my ox,” mentality that is strangling us... tired yet?
I’ll let someone else take over.
Well, you should be voting Democrat then, problem solved.

Aside from that strange abortion mention, which I don't think dem's support, all of that looks like a result of republican legislation/obstruction.
Which party wants to rebuild infrastructure/education? Dems
Which party wants to drop health care costs via universal insurance? Dems
Which party is OK with raising taxes on the ultra-wealthy to pay for that and lower the debt? Dems

Remember, Republicans are currently for Trump, but before that madness, it was:
for big military spending but for zero debt and zero tax increase, so they were not making sense
but if push comes to shove, utlra-wealthy/corporate tax decrease first!
inner cities/education - need tough love
insurance - status quo - they are pro insurance lobby, unregulated markets
I think you just need vote Dem, problem solved.

I'm only slightly being partisan in that...I really see most of what you listed as exactly what Republicans intentionally **** up.

Should I vote Democratic to fix the broken inner-city schools? Fix the warzones? The worst of the worst cities are under Dem control and have been for many years. How’s THAT been workin’? Or don’t you care about the poor who suffer under their leadership? Last year, Obama added $556 billion to our deficit. Yeah, he’s helping the problem. Under Dem leadership, we have tens of millions of people who have such high deductibles under the ACA they can’t afford to USE healthcare. How many families can afford the first $6000 of healthcare for each person in their family? Not very many.

This is not a partisan issue. What we have here is bipartisan failure. And politicians are delighted with your mindset that it’s the other guy’s fault. Simply delighted.

Republicans gave us the war on drug that put how many african american fathers in jail for years for minor drug charges because they were not elite/white drugs? Institutionalized prisons? Cuts to welfare/education...this is what Republicans gave you. Don't make this out to be tit for tat. Sometimes you have to accept facts. They find the military, but they don't fund social issues where lives matter do they? And we're talking national level. If it's a ****ty state with corrupt politicians, definitely vote the other party in, no debate there.

Health insurance has been skyrocketing for 15+ years, don't try to pin that on Obama. What he did was give us the ability to leave a job and still have coverage due to pre-existing, that was a huge deal. But what did Republican do for healthcare? *crickets*.

Dems are not utopia, but they are a world away from the ****-show of Republicans.

Yes. The Republicans draw these bizarre equivalences that make no sense, like that electing a pedophile to the senate is the same thing as electing a Democrat, because Democrats ran a presidential candidate this last time whose husband was disloyal to her once.

It's really twisted logic.

One of my all time favorite posts of yours

And that is saying something!!

People all over the world envy the "innocent until proven guilty" part of the US.

You should try to understand what that means, sometime.

That's funny......how according to Trump supporters, it literally only applies to Republicans.

Save the partisan hackery.

I don't think quite a lot of people understand southern hackles. As in you got my hackles up. when the story on Moore first broke, Jones went from around 10-15 down depending on the poll to take a 5-10 point lead. Again depending on the poll. then the national media and pretty much everyone else began chastising Alabaman's that supported Moore. Telling them basically that they are trash and inhuman if they vote for Moore. Using a Hillary Clinton phrase, degenerates.

This has raised the hackles on quite a lot of Alabaman's. It became a I'll vote for Moore because you're telling me not to because you think I'm trash. I'm not immune to southern hackles either. When Zell Miller was governor he was going to change our state flag which had the stars and bars incorporated in it. I didn't give a dang one way or the other until all those folks from out of state poured in and started demonstrating and protesting, telling me and others we must remove the stars and bars. I got my hackles up then and fought against removal which won. I fought against removal only because all those out of state folks got my hackles up. A couple of years later the stars and bars was removed peacefully without any fanfare and that once again was alright with me. But it was removed without the folks from other states and the national media telling us we had to remove it.

I think this is what is happening in Alabama. If Moore wins, it will be because all those folks and media from outside the state of Alabama was telling them how to vote, that got their hackles up. Right now most republicans because of all the out of state interference think these allegations were a dirty trick spawned by the Jones' campaign. Besides, it is next to impossible to prove anything 40 years after the fact. It's he said, she said situation. Democrats jumping on the side of the she, republicans on the side of the he.

Politics as usual it seems.

Yes, how dare people tell you that you should remove the image of a "movement" which murdered thousands of American soldiers and sailors to keep Americans in slavery, and whose adherents fought for a century afterwards to deny Americans their basic civil rights. Wow, the victim culture is ****ing intense.

Perhaps the Neo Nazis back in Germany should "get their hackles up" and start flying the swastika again. After all, it's mostly "outsiders" telling them that Nazism was evil and that fighting to enslave and mass murder millions was bad.....right?

Hell, Japan has already embraced that line of thinking when it comes of the Rape of Nanking and other atrocities the IJA and IJN committed in the Pacific theater. What's next? Cambodians "getting their hackles up" and flying the flag of the Khmer Rouge? Serbs "getting their hackles up" and waving around the pictures of all those war criminals who did their best to ethnically cleanse their way to a "Greater Serbia"?

You can "get your hackles up" over people pointing out the sins of the past, especially the ones that you have embraced as something other than what they were, all you want, but then you have to accept the fact that people are not going to take that sitting down and you will be considered "degenerates."

And yet disgusted Alabama voters are still willing to vote for him over a Democrat because they are even more sickened and repulsed by liberals and their dishonest media.

Congratulations!

Yep, the people of Alabama have already proven their bigotry matters more to them than literally anything else, including the Constitution of the United States. But hey, "liberals."

If you can’t accept that both parties are equally responsible for the mess we’re in today, there is no point in having a discussion.

Is there any chance at all we could convince you to run for public office?

You really do get to the heart of it without that air of smugness that traps so many.

Thank you. But no. ;)

There's a reason why the term 'false equivalency' contains the word 'false'.

Calling Alabama tribal is a put down on people belonging to Tribes. The IQ average has to be around 80

What it boils down to is red-state/bible-belt Alabama would vote for Lucifer himself if it meant another Senate vote against legal abortion and LGBT rights.

Who has said that?

Was that a dream you had?

Who has said that?

Was that a dream you had?

Nope, it's the same thing repeated over and over and over again in dozens of threads. Democrats are always declared guilty, often of things that never actually happened, while Republicans who support trump are as pure as the glistening snow.....according to Trump supporters.
