Why must we keep pretending?

Ain't no government in this part of Virginia. We just make it up as we go along. State government stops somewhere around Lynchburg. We don't send them no money, and they don't send us none. We don't listen to them, and they don't listen to us. Works out just fine.

Well, alright, pardner!

They had the votes according to McConnell. They retired for the night though to pick it p tomorrow. And when they pass it and trump signs it.... mark my words... THEN the GOP will find their spine and start attacking trump. Because they will have gotten everything they wanted out of him.

Interesting dilemma. What if Trump realizes this and refuses to sign the bill? Someone should start a thread on that!

Maybe.

But after the Senate votes...they haven't done that yet...it goes back to the House to work out differences. THEN...if all that happens...it goes to the President. Still lots of opportunity for the GOP Elites to torpedo the thing.

Heh. It's actually kinda, sorta true. Life in rural, western Virginia is not seriously affected by events in Richmond. The eastern and northern parts of the state - the most populous areas - lean left, and this has been true for a very long time. It's not new, and the same situation nationally causes far more concern for many than it warrants. A little tolerance is required from all in order for this dichotomy to work to the advantage of all. Seems to be in short supply.

Just some questions to mull over:

1. Why must we keep pretending trickle-down economics works?

2. Why must we pretend Hillary Clinton is just as bad as Trump, who has even national security gurus as afraid of nuclear war for the first time since the Cuban Missile crisis?

3. Why must we pretend that climate change isn't real and that we must stop CO2 emissions to stop it?

4. Why must we pretend that there is an equivalence between the two major parties? One is allowing a very much unfit president continue to hold office so that they can pass tax cuts for the rich and take people's health care away.

5. Why must we pretend there is an equivalence between Trump's collusion with Russie and Uranium I and Hillary's email "scandal".

6. Why must we pretend all opinions are equally valid?

You people that consider yourselves at least somewhat independent and bend over backwards to not seem too much like a partisan hack need to wake the **** up. There's a good, pro-America party and there is a party that cares more about power than the country. Stop trying to be "balanced" when one side is ran by unhinged racists and oligarchs.

Because from an early age we are taught to pretend all sorts of things? We pretend there is a Santa Claus and Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy, many pretend all the silliness associated with most religions. In short, we are into fantasy, big time.

Why not pretend your vote actually means something and that we are living in a democracy?
