White House: It doesn't matter if anti-Muslim videos Trump retweeted are real - Business Insider

The White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said it didn't matter whether the anti-Muslim videos President Donald Trump retweeted on Wednesday morning were real.

"Whether it's a real video, the threat is real," Sanders told reporters Wednesday, according to a CBS News reporter. "His goal is to promote strong border security and strong national security."

Trump's early-morning retweets included three videos posted by Jayda Fransen, the deputy leader of the ultranationalist far-right group Britain First who has previously been charged with "religious aggravated harassment" in the UK, The New York Times reported. The videos included footage portraying Muslims committing violent acts.

Fransen's videos were titled, "Muslim migrant beats up Dutch boy on crutches!," "Muslim Destroys a Statue of Virgin Mary!," and "Islamist mob pushes teenage boy off roof and beats him to death!"

Authorities later found that the man in the first video shown assaulting the Dutch person was neither Muslim nor a migrant, The Mirror reported, citing two Dutch websites.

I'd just like to point out some delicious, well-seasoned irony here. So Trump retweed videos from Britain First of "Muslims", which turned out to be totally fake. And Sarah's response to it is just so deliciously ironic. You complain about fake news all the time, but when Trump re-tweets something that was proven demonstrably false, then it "doesn't matter".

Oh, man. The irony is too good. The Trump administration is the gift that keeps on giving.

I never thought they'd be able to beat "Alternative Facts", and yet here we are.

Oh, it's just another iteration of "it's only bad if a liberal did it".

It's not like his base will care that he's a lying scumbag that retweets racist hate group fodder. If a liberal shakes its head at the retweet, that means it was a good retweet.

Look around DP. That really is where we are in politics.

You're so jaded...maybe too jaded. I know we have a good number of right leaning people that call out fake news all the time here, and I fully expect they will do the same in this example. The Right are not hypocrites, they stand for the truth, no matter how ugly it may be, so I think they will be all over this and demand answers.

I might also be wrong about some or all of this...

;)

Well, not all people on the right, but I think my post definitely is a fair description of how the Trump base behaves.

I don't care about the irony or the hypocrisy. I care about the banana republic level of dishonesty from this White House. It's disturbing that Trump supporters don't care about the dishonesty.

John Kelly fabricates a story about Congresswoman Wilson and Trump supporters don't care. A blatant factual untruth and no apology. We've never seen this kind of behavior from our government. I don't even have time to list all the naked demonstrable lies that have come from this administration.

Their only response is always, but Obama, but Hillary, all dishonest attempts at equivocating the unequal.

As to the first set of sentences, isn't it all interlinked? I don't see that caring about one but not the other makes sense, since Trump behaves in whatever way he thinks his supporters will like. If they started speaking up about his dishonesty, maybe he'd try changing his tune a bit. But they don't care, so he doesn't act like he cares.
