Tone Deaf Much?

His base will love it. His opponents will stoop to his level in name calling and hate him.
Most of US just hope a political party will put up a better alternative in 2020 and are waiting this all out

Considering that both Warren and how Pocahontas is presented are gross misrepresentations of what American Indians really are, it sounds like a valid comment....

I’m not a fan of the Senator from Mass., but the setting is inappropriate at best......
Meaning seems to have escaped the people being honored as well.

The American Indians I know aren't big fans of Pocahontas due to the fable's gross misrepresentation of American Indians. A lot of them feel the same way about Warren as well. Trump's use of the term was his way of saying that Warren was as phony as how Pocahontas has been represented. Given all that, I do think that he could have found a better way of communicating that idea. This was ham-handed at best.

Trump isn't that deep of a thinker. He said it because he is parroting conservative voices in the media.

Just another day in Paradise.

I've long ago stopped being surprised at the stupidity our President spouts. I'll be surprised should he actually say something that shows any evidence that the synapses firing in his head.

Yes, he actually said that while making them stand under a portrait of Andrew Jackson.

American Indians need to get out of our country and go back from whence they came. They have been warned!

MAGA!

I'd bet $100 that Trump hasn't got the first clue about Pocahontas in real life. Trump was throwing out a cheap political shot in a ceremony honoring those men. He's a classless buffoon, but we knew that already.

Anyone want to bet Trump knows about Andrew Jackson's history with the Trail of Tears?

WTF is wrong with that man?

To give the man some credit, there's a very, very good chance Trump is completely ignorant of the history of Andrew Jackson and the Trail of Tears.

What's incredible is his staff arranged the photo op like that. Seems to me about like honoring some black civil rights heroes under a painting of George Wallace. Amazing, and unnecessary.

He only hires the best people. So he says.

Wow! The media should be all over that. Either the Administration is run by a bunch of imbeciles who don't know history or heartless jerks who get off trolling others (most likely a mix of both.)

I doubt he really does. Most likely this was set up by someone in the Administration who uses Pepe as his avatar in alt-right internet forums.

I get the feeling Steve Bannon and Miller are pissing their pants in delight today about this...

He 'made' them? You guys kill me...out of one corner of your mouth he's as dumb as a bunch of rocks, out of the other side he's shrewd enough to plan a photo set.

What option did they have? Make a big scene and refuse the award unless the podium is moved? Those men aren't low class morons like Trump and whoever set up that shoot, and so expecting that from them is unreasonable.

I've not seen any evidence other than what confirms Trump is pig-ignorant about American history. And, no, the POTUS wouldn't normally concern himself with the details of a photo-op. That's what his incompetent staff is for....

My comment wasn't directed at you. You are usually fair in your criticism.

It's worse to lie about your ancestral background in an effort to gain an advantage. In other words, Warren lied, cheated, and tried to screw the taxpayer's for personal gain.

However, when your political motto is: "The ends justify the means," anything goes.
