Coincidentally they both face serious allegations..
However, outside of the allegations, they were both basically extreme, cartoonish right wingers, who pandered to the Christian base and used fear mongering about race or homosexuality as a stepping stool. They are the true kings of identity politics. (That doesn't exclude the Democrats from partaking in that particular tool.)
So, we got Roy Moore and Donald Trump who gargle, roar, and bluster about anything "right wing". Take your pick. Border security, 2nd amendment, Muslim-American persecution, Homosexuality. They portray themselves as champions of an "old way" and they fashion themselves as defenders of your values, etc. Even though, they are vehemently opposed by all but the Trump base, the Trump vortex sucks sanity inside.
Well, this is a serious thread. I bet you all thought I was going to go on about how conservatives are serial rapists or something. Nah. Serious things to consider. Do the characteristics of right wing populism, found within Trump and Roy Moore make up the ideal Republican candidate?
Were Hillary and Bernie the ideal Democratic candidates? Never mind. Stupid question to ask a progressive.
