New York Times Columnist: If You Support Trump, We Can't Be Friends

And, yet he writes political articles for the NYT.

Amazing, really, that journalism has become so yellow in just a couple short decades. Not that it didn't always have a few bad apples, but now, they're the norm instead of the exceptions.

The guy's article list is here -- and, it's a doozy:

That has become a real problem. The partisan twisting of information has reached a general leval that makes democracy much more difficult to function.

Crying and whining about opinion articles? Safe space ----->

Opinion articles, are by their nature, biased.

Its unrealitic to expect journaliatic integrity in an opinion piece, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Of course if an opinion is represented as fact, that is a problem. But I don't think that applies in this case, as it is obviously a biased opinion.

No... identifying the narrow and intolerant typists for the Socialists of America Partei (SAPs).

Didn’t SAPs at least feign tolerance and open-mindedness at one point? ROTFLOL...

Phew!

It’s good to know the NYT is hiring talented, tolerant and open minded people.

Trump has descended to such a level that anyone who still supports him is irrational. His response to Russia is irrational. His name calling of Kim Jong-un is irrational. His constant petty lying is irrational. And Trump basically sits around trolling Black people on Twitter.

I have a friend who is a Trump supporter. I don't mind because he's on the autism spectrum. He sometimes says racist things too but I attribute that to his mental issues. He's high functioning otherwise.

I think intelligent conservatives hate Trump. The rest...well, let me quote Trump, "I love the poorly educated."

Yes, this is rational thinking.

His response to Russia is irrational.
Of course it is. Which response is that which you speak? The one where he bends over to Putin and says to Medvedev... “Tell Vladimir I will have more flexibility after the election.”

And Trump basically sits around trolling Black people on Twitter.
I did not realize the Media is composed of Black people. Well... I learned something today. That, and how Leftists seem to find odd ways to haul out the race card.

Yes, and we believe everything you say, because as the post up to this point illustrates, you are the model spokesperson for the Left.

I think intelligent conservatives hate Trump.
Of course you do. It’s called self fulfilling prophecy. But if it makes you happy... it can;t be that baaaa-ahhhh-ahhhh-add.

The rest...well, let me quote Trump, "I love the poorly educated."
Is that quote accurate? Like... I can see Russia from my front yard?

Of course it’s not.

Please post more often.

though i consider the election of Donald Trump to be a national embarrassment which erodes the respectability of our country, puts us all at risk, and is a symptom of the cancer that our failing two party system has caused like a four pack a day smoking habit, i wouldn't ditch a friend who is a Trump supporter. i probably would click "see less of this" on FB, though, if the friend did the whole spam the feed with political bull**** thing.

Charles Blow said (Tweeting):

If u support Trump, we don't have anything to talk abt & we can't be friends

What a shame. And here I was looking forward to taking Blow on a quail hunting trip in central Texas.

I was hoping he'd pay for the lease.

But seriously, if I believed half of the stuff Blow believes about Trump I'd never want to associate with Trump supporters either.

give the entire context of that quote.

When I was a kid I remember hearing the Left say pretty much the exact same things about Reagan as they are now about President Trump. Like with Trump now, Reagan had some huge problems with the establishment GOP in the beginning.

Well, we now know that by every objective measure Reagan was the greatest modern day President.

We currently have the best economy we have had in 12 years and over the last 9 months it has gotten there quicker than it has in 35 years. With that I think President Trump leading us into a Golden Age similar to what Reagan created.

This is a perfect example of why NYT and Wash Post would disappear tomorrow without Leftist/Foreign Billionaires artificially propping them up.

How dare an opinion columnist write an opinion column in the opinion section expressing an opinion that is different from yours! How dare they?!

The article the OP's link links to:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/19/opinion/trump-isnt-hitler-but-the-lying.html

Triple facepalm.

Actually, quadruple, because the "friends" remark was not in the opinion column. It came from a few tweets. The article doesn't even contain the word "friend"; it's just about how Trump is a lying bastard.

So now we're bashing the NYT because an opinion columnist tweeted something they don't like?

The wife and I have a very good and old friend who supports Trump.

We simply do not discuss politics.

some of my extended family are Republicans. i care more about them then i do about their tribal affiliation, and i don't have enough family to start breaking ties. they'll either break the fox spell like i did or they won't. either way, like you said, we won't talk politics.

Both my parents like Trump, especially his foreign policy positions. I shake my head and wonder how I grew up with such different opinions. It's weird. I just try to avoid talking politics with them as much as possible. That's why I come here to vent.

Parents these days! Sheesh!

Said more correctly, since you are a feeble minded **** that is so twisted in your partisan political hatred that all you can see is left or right, conservative vs leftist, republican vs democrat, and TTTRRUUUUUUUMMMMPPPPP!!!!....then you are right...we cant be friends.

And you HAVE to know...that is NO loss...

I can't be friends with anyone who doesn't support Trump, defend his racist bigotry or back-up his pathological lying.

You forgot a few standard lines the Socialists of America (SAPs) have been vomiting for decades.

Give me a break... They are having an old-fashioned news war given the material Trump and his administration provide.

And to those who criticize the over the top commentary and satire on Trump, he causes it by being an over the top figure with his lying, narcissism, appeals to people's prejudice, etc. When he apologizes for his birtherism ("my people can't believe what they are finding"... hint, he had no people), for saying that Obama tapped his phones, that three million illegal votes marred his popular vote loss, his racist-like comments, his insulting Fiorina's looks, then the attacks and satire might diminish. Til then, you don't need a degree from Trump University to know this guy is a bit of a fraud, and the satire and attacks are commensurate with the material willingly provided by the buffoonery of The Donald.
