Another reason why i stay away from major shopping centers during the Thanksgiving weekend.

Stop making this pathetic display of jackasses acting like savages over a good deal on large screen TV or anything else about a political party. It has nothing to do with politics. It has everything to do with the moral decay in our society.

The deals in stores on Black Friday were no better than the deals one can get on the Internet often with free shipping.

I read an account of two grown men going to blows over a toy car. It was pathetic.

Another heavy set woman with fire engine red hair plowing into a group of people trying to get her hands on a flat screen TV assaulting several in front of her .

Most folks I know don't have time to stand in line for days or even hours to get a "good deal". They are too damn busy working or taking care of their family for such nonsense.

The Daily Mail article is bull****. It wasn't "freezing cold" anywhere in the US last night. Mid to low 30's worst case.

It's a strange dichotomy.

In many respects, yes. Americans tend to be really helpful and kind people. It's part of what I'm really enjoying about being back. Just how nice so many people are.

On the other hand, there's this message that it's supposed to be a dog-eat-dog society, and some people really get, well, eaten up by that. Obsessed with things and money and status.

As in so many other areas, America is a culture of extremes.

I'm further North than "Deep South," and it never fell below 32 Thursday night. Hell, we barely dropped below 40 last night.

I'm down south...not deep south but I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains so it's been getting burrrrr cold here at night...
