That is taking the most uncharitable view of it as possible but yes, it looks to me that Moore was saving himself for marriage, and that this marriage he knew from wayback should be with a young woman he got with before the world ruined her, that he had from the start very clear views on what a good and proper marriage is made of, and he went and got that for himself, though it took awhile.

And I promise you that his wife understands all of this, and feels very lucky to have found such a upstanding man.
