  • Joe Barton apologized for the nude photo and graphic texts on Wednesday
  • He said the photo was taken in recent years when separated from his wife
  • Republican said he had a series of sexual relationships prior the the divorce
  • The photo of Barton surfaced this week when a Twitter user posted it online
  • The user also posted a screenshot of a graphic text message Barton had sent that read: 'I want u soo bad. Right now.'

'While separated from my second wife, prior to the divorce, I had sexual relationships with other mature adult women. Each was consensual. Those relationships have ended,' the 68-year-old said in a statement.​

I find it particularly funny that that qualifier has to be put in there to differentiate himself from the Roy Moore crowd.

I'm hearing (from wife who probably read it on twitter) that these were sent to harass an ex. If true, it's a bit moar than he's saying.

I do not like him as a congress critter , but this is not something that should be a 'you should resign' over it. There are much better reasons to get rid of him.

If he was separated at the time, what is wrong with this? There is nothing illegal or immoral about consenting adults sharing nudies. This is 2017. This shouldn’t even be a story, except to the extent that the person who released the photo should be arrested and publicly shamed.

Assuming, of course, there is not more to the story than immediately meets the eye.

The story so far is the hypocrisy of someone in the party that lords "morality" over everyone else gets caught doing something he'd shame someone else for. Kind of like Newt Gingrich and Denny Hastart leading the morality charge against Bill Clinton's infidelity.
