[...]Corfman addressed critics who have questioned why she failed to raise her allegations earlier, telling TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie, “It’s very simple, really — I did tell people,” including her friends and family and, later when she was an adult herself, her children.

[...]“I wouldn’t exactly call it a date. I would say it was a meet. At 14 I was not dating. At 14, I was not able to make those kind of choices,” she said.Corfman said the second time she went to Moore’s house, he laid out blankets on his living room floor and “proceeded to, um, seduce me, I guess you would say.” He removed most of her clothing, left the room and then returned wearing only in his "white underwear."
“He touched me over my clothing, what was left of it, and he tried to get me to touch him as well,” she recalled.
Corfman said she pulled back, frightened, and had Moore take her back home.
“I was a 14-year-old child trying to playing in an adult’s world, and he was 32 years old,” she said.[...]

[...]At the time, she didn’t realize she had been molested because “it wasn’t part of my vocabulary.”“I had been reading Harlequin romances for years. I was expecting candlelight and roses, what I got was very different,” she said.
Corfman said she immediately told two of her friends, and then a third. All of them told her what Moore did was inappropriate.
“We weren’t prepared for that,” she said. “When he called again, I didn’t go. I made an excuse and I didn’t go.”
Corfman said she eventually told her family and family friends. She also thought about confronting Moore for years as he climbed the state judicial ranks, but feared the repercussions against her and her family.
"I wanted to walk into his office and say, 'Hey, remember me? You need to knock this stuff off. I need to go public.' My children were small so I didn’t do it," she said.[...]

Well that seems like a pretty reasonable answer to the "why now?" question that seems to be the only defense offered by the Moore defenders. I don't think it makes a bit of difference. Even if he was 100% proven to have molested this girl, he would still win Alabama. That is what politics in our country has become. The right is more concerned with playing Whataboutism and pushing their agenda than decency or moral accountability. They have become everything they accused the Establishment Left of being and oddly seem to feel justified in doing it because they can make judicial appointments and make grounds in immigration and abortion.

Who cares who molested a child 40 years ago if we can save millions of unborn in the future? Who cares about these kinds of criminal acts which were tolerable in their time when there are an intolerable number of illegal immigrants stealing jobs and resources in this country today? The problem with this kind of thinking is it ignores the political pendulum and the price that is paid when things swing back. In that sense they are making the exact same miscalculation that Obama and the Democrats made.

The way the Allred case is falling apart means that people are less likely to believe this case, even if it is real. It just reeks of a political hit job, and without any evidence, given only her testimony, the time that this came up, and this other big allegation that is proving false, it doesn't look good for those trying to take down Moore.

Fascinating. It's falling apart? And this other big allegation is proving false?

Golly, when did those things happen?

I don't envy the dilemma Alabamians are currently experiencing. I agree with you that if they decide to make Moore the next U.S. Senator, they're going to have to reconcile his alleged crimes with supporting his candidacy. This is how Trump became president. Many Trump voters knew he was a horrible person, they simply perceived HRC as being more horrible.

Hopefully the Alabama dilemma will be the worst one like it in your history. How could it get worse? A special election in Florida where the choices are a serial killer over someone who just killed a couple of people?

Like I said, I doubt they could have ever stopped him from winning the election. He has had 9 accusers and he has actually earned money and additional support because of it. They have done a great job of discrediting his accusers by focusing on the media and focusing on specific allegations that they could create doubt and uncertainty about. However, it doesn't change the simple fact that during a period when dozens of famous people seem to getting outed for past transgression, Moore is facing a coordinated sheltering from accountability. He will win the election but there is a bigger political cost to be paid.

The way the Allred case is falling apart

I stopped reading at the first lie. Yeah, it's "falling apart" just like the Mueller investigation is dead in the water, right?

The denial and outright lies from the right of late never cease to astound me.

People who worked at the Olde Hickory House are disputing parts of the allegation.

Even the rules of the establishment wouldn't have employed her at her age.

Further, why won't Allred allow 3rd party verification of the signature?

The difference with Moore is that there is no evidence, no settlement, no lawsuits, and he's denying the claims. He's even brought forward arguments that cast doubt into some of the accusations.

Oh, so it's actually not falling apart in the least. Got it.

Moore Campaign Attempts To Refute Mall Ban And One Accuser?s Story – Talking Points Memo

People get hired underage all the time, esp. back then, and why take the time to refute the location of the dumpsters, the operating hours of the restaurant or whether or not the restaurant had a back door when Moore has stated that either the restaurant doesn't exist or that he never, ever dined there?

Then why hasn't Moore sued? Then he could get the book examined couldn't he? All those witnesses being deposed under oath. He could be exonerated. What could go wrong?

Time.

If he sued, the election would happen long before any court action. He is better off blasting Allred and her c!ient in the media...and then letting the matter die.

Well, it’s an answer. Not sure it’s a reasonable one. Even me, much older, at 14 would have known this was wrong. For a neighbor to do this in his own home a few doors away also sounds suspicious. Those who have read my posts know that my inclination has been to believe these long ago stories, a change of heart in the last few weeks. I’m kind of sorry she elaborated, because a 14 year old girl KNOWS.

A 14 year-old girl in 1960s Alabama knows what?

Just what kind of prejudices do you have about Alabama? They aren’t idiots, you know.

Was comprehensive sex education a common component of Alabama's education 40 years ago? Or did she look stuff up on the internet back then?

Forget it. I get it. You don’t agree. Move on. Such a stupid thing to argue about. Swear to God.

Edit... A better response might have been, “I completely disagree. Back in the 60’s, Sex Ed probably wasn’t taught in Alabama schools so it’s perfectly plausible to me that she WOULDNT have known.”

Your post would have gotten a Like from me.

Just can’t get the snark out of DP no how no way. (I’m just as guilty as the next...)

The saddest thing in the world is women saying things like this.

Women are cherished, until when they're not. What a special time we live in.
