Generic random thought on current sex abuse/harassment allegations.
Why do I fear that this is going to be akin to the McCarthy "Red Scare" stuff?
All it will take will be an accusation, and lives will be ruined. "YOU are an abuser/harasser! Don't deny it!" Then, later on it'll come out that much of it* was a bunch of crap, yet said ruined lives will still be ruined.
The true accusations will get drowned out by the false accusations, the whole issue will be discredited as a result, and nothing substantial will change.
*-I feel like we've seen only the tip of the iceberg.
