Although only one politico in Washington said this, most of them are worried about losing their wealthy donors. This isn't just on one side of the aisle, but on both. We the people don't really matter. This tax bill is a great example and over the next ten years will hurt a majority of Americans, but it will bring billions to the wealthiest of us and at least a billion to the president and his family. That is all that matters, the wealthy donor class. It is what is wrong with this country and our so called democracy. It will eventually bring this country down and make it a second class country looking up at the Chinese. It is so sad for our children and their children.

I thought Obama had collected most of his funds from small donations.

If this were true, it would one out of the many.

We're seeming irrevocably ****ed by our system.
The only people with the power to change the system are the ones who're currently benefiting from it.
I s'pose some massive grass roots campaign could turn the tide.

But we allow ourselves to be too divided to handle the real issues with our democracy's systemic crippling.
Instead of addressing the system we're too worried about the The Others who're screwing our country—e.g. the liberals, the conservatives, the so-and-sos, etc.

But the real issue is a fatally broken system which persistently rewards corrupt, anti-American behavior.

imho.
Maybe everything is actually peachy.

Unless and until “we the people” stop being led around by partisan noserings, this will continue. And none of us should EVER forget that both sides of the aisle adore the hyper-partisanship going on right now. And the next thing we should never forget is that every single one of these loopholes that need fixing? They are the very deliberate work of our congressman. They are not representing the people anymore than they have to in order to get re-elected.

Mr. Smith is dead.

I agree what most politicos in Washington DC do not give a rats ass about their constituents and are covertly obedeiant to their big norons. That's why Trump was elected. However I very much disagree with you regarding the tax cut bill. if anything the wealthy will get a tax increase. Everyone else will get a tax cut. I suspect that your real issue is with the corporate tax cut. It would be insane not to cut corporate taxes. American companies are at a disadvantage not only in the American markets, but the foreign markets as well due to the fact that we have the highest corporate tax rate in the free world. That is the biggest single reason that US companies either move their factories overseas or they hide assets overseas. The left is attempting to have it both ways.....whine about corporate tax cuts while at the same time, whining about corporations moving operations overseas.

Have you read anything about the tax bill, if you had you would not believe as you do. And stop whining about the corporate tax rate, the average corporate tax actually paid is 14%, which is less than what most corporations pay in the rest of the world. Most of the rest of the world don't have all of the loop holes we have in our tax rate. And the idea that the wealthy will pay more is LOL. Listen to any of the real people talking about the individual tax cuts and you will realize that the rich will get a lot richer and the rest of us will py more in the very short long run. By 2027 most of us will be paying 27% more in income taxes.
