He's been vilified by millions and locked out of the NFL—all because he took a knee to protest police brutality. But Colin Kaepernick's determined stand puts him in rare company in sports history: Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson—athletes who risked everything to make a difference.

Thank you, Colin Kaepernick. You risked your career to bring to light the serious issue of police brutality/injustice in this country. When a man takes the life of another man unjustly, he likely will spend the rest of his life in prison. When a police officer does the same thing, he only loses his job. How is that fair? Inequality needs to be addressed here.

Kaepernick deserves this award imo because he brought awareness to a serious issue that will take a collective effort to fix. When many people don't even think it is a problem, it will take an enormous shift/movement to get people out of their comfort zone. Kaepernick realize this country has systemic issues that prevent millions of our brothers and sisters from moving up and even being able to walk down the streets without having to worry about a cop assaulting/killing them.

1. You're giving Kap way too much credit. There was already a glaring spotlight being shown on the issue of police brutality. He didn't just come up with this on his own. We already had BLM and endless 24/7 news coverage. If anything, his chosen method of muddied the waters and now hardly anyone is talking about police brutality.

2. GQ has a very good PR team and my hat is off to whoever thought this one up. Now everyone is talking about GQ magazine.

This problem has going on for hundreds of years. Kap imo is brave and couragous. The problem wont be solved easily however when our police force acts like a slave patrol, someone needs to speak for the victims.

If people would behave themselves, not get into trouble with the law, directly obey the commands of a police officer, and not pose a threat to the life of the police officer who is giving them commands, then those people won't get shot. Simple as that.

Sure, there are definitely some legitimate isolated incidents of police brutality/injustice, and I believe those incidents should definitely be called out as such, and the officer should face repercussions for his/her actions, but this is NOT happening on a systematic level. And if you claim that it is, show me the proof that this is a systematic problem and not just isolated incidents...

slave patrol...LOL

They kill many more whites than blacks

When you say these incidents of police brutality are "isolated incidents" and it's just a bad few apples, are you implying that the majority of African Americans being killed/assaulted are bad apples?

Look at the case of Charles Kinsey. What was the police officers justification for shooting him? It is systematic. I don't believe these individual cops are bad people, the job makes them do it.

And Kaepernick isn't even white!

That's it. If I had a subscription to that vile, anti-white magazine, I would cancel it forthwith.

What a joke. Kaepernick praises a regime which brutally oppresses its own people and donates money to the foundation of a cop killer.

Good thing the police don't act like a "slave patrol". Problem solved!

I'm saying that there are a few incidents where cops' actions, given the situation, are completely in the wrong, like the case you mentioned, but that police brutality is not a systematic problem... If you break the law and you disobey direct police orders, you have a much higher probability of being shot or injured (the cop needs to watch out for his own life) than if you would simply obey the law and obey direct police orders. There's still a level of personal responsibility here...

One case (or a few isolated cases) do not make it a systematic issue. A systematic issue would be much more wide spread.

Not to mention how he could easily beat the crap out of Tom Brady.

Media ratings in sports must be slipping so the liberals decided to give this dude a cookie.
It's a shame to reward some one who stands...I mean kneels when the American flag is presented. Our veterans who celebrated and remember those who fought for our freedom in honor of the flag has to be outraged.
This dude doesn't deserve anything.

I'm a vet. I'm not outraged. Probably because what Colin was kneeling for wasn't about any of that idiotic jignoistic bull**** you just said he was doing it for.

Oh yawn...yawn.
What he has done is wrong and has spread across the land.
Those who believe what he's doing are losers just like him.

And those who believe, except in Christ, certainly shouldn't be considered white, and a lot of them shouldn't be, either.

So profound.

Oh look. Here's a guy in the NFL who kneels every week. Looks like he just destroyed your nationalistic false narrative of the topic...

Seahawks’ Michael Bennett Stood for National Anthem Ahead of Veterans Day

The Seattle Seahawks defensive end stood for the national anthem Thursday for the first time this season, Bleacher Report notes. According to the sports site, Bennett told NBC that he stood to show support for the military prior to Veterans Day.

These people must kneel every chance they get. I imagine their zippers get a (ahem) workout.

Nationalism is for losers.

...and so are those individuals who kneel while the National Anthem is played.

You should remind the liberal that white-nationalism is for winners!

Nah. They seem to piss off all the right people. Especially the idiots who can't tell the difference between a flag, a veteran, and a country.

Really? Cause it sure looks like it's the snowflakes that are all butthurt that other people aren't doing what they want them to do.

Question:
Would you kneel during the Anthem ?
