Anyone care to speculate why Navy ships are crashing into cargo freighters

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/01/us/politics/navy-collisions-avoidable.html

Seriously a full size box freighter can be seen from 10 miles away and Navy radar can see every ship on every ocean at once if need be. So why are 17 kids dead for no reason?

Does Russia have a weapon that effectively turns off Navy radar leaving these ships blind and dead in the water?

Easy answer: No one was watching. You have to look for a freighter to see one, same for radar, you have to look to see anything.

Look seriously, you seem to be taking info on this topic from the Navy itself. Is this rational?

Just think

I am doing nothing but pointing you towards some of the ongoing conversations we have had on this subject.

At some point reinventing the wheel is stupid.

Not possible because even if no one was watching a proximity alarm goes off................

OK but I am pointing out that taking info from the Navy that needs to protect itself is pointless and will never answer the question.

Russia has a weapon that fully jamms Navy radar, their jets use it and can not be locked on to, because the ship is blind and can not see, and as you say the people (clowns) running the ships have no ability without the radar to tell them what to do

You dont need to look that far because we know that our military sucks now, and I say that the Navy is the worst, and given all the investigations by different people not all of them Americans I have some confidence that if that did happen we would find out about it.

A Marine commander put a Muslim in a cloths dryer, that's pretty stupid too

Well, I don’t buy your conspiracy idea that Russia has a weapon such as you describe. But I suppose it’s possible. I think it was more likely human error, carelessness and lack of training. Sincerely hope some heads rolled...

Even before the report, urgent new orders went out in early September for Navy warships.

The directives included more sleep and no more than 100-hour workweeks for sailors. Ships steaming in crowded waters were ordered to broadcast their positions. And ships whose crews lack basic seamanship certification will probably stay in port until the problems are fixed.

It's not conspiracy, it's https://www.voanews.com/a/russian-mystry-weapon-claim-seen-as-sign-of-military-weakness/3834792.html

The media reports claimed that Russian specialists had an “unbelievable breakthrough” in electronic warfare. The complex “Khibiny,” the report claimed, uses “powerful electronic waves to deactivate the ship's systems.”

It also said the new technology is capable of creating electronic jamming domes over their command and control facilities, bases and critical infrastructure making them invisible on radar screens.

In describing the episode, the website Russian Agency of News said the “American servicemen did not know that the Russian plane was equipped with the latest complex of radio-electronic warfare ‘Khibini.’
