Rand Paul was attacked with his back turned and his ears covered. He was hit with such force that 5 ribs were broken and his lungs bruised. He is unable to return to work as of yet.

And the mainstream media wants you to believe it's his fault because he's sloppy about mowing his lawn.

His neighbors say that this is a lie. Paul is a perfect neighbor whose lawn is well kept, they say.

The person who attacked him is an anti-Trump cowardly PoS. He is anti-GOP in his social media, calling for the impeachment of the president and urging Russia investigator Robert Mueller to “fry Trump’s gonads.”

Captured screen grabs of Rene Boucher’s Facebook page ... and taken down since the event also show that the anesthesiologist was a fan of the #NeverTrump clan.

The reason for the attack seems pretty obvious, but the mainstream media seems anxious to justify or excuse violence against Republicans.

Ok, so violence it is.

Don't get me wrong, I hate me some politicians too. But anyone who expresses that hatred through physical violence deserves to get hit square in the face with the justice system.

... The reason for Mr. Boucher’s bizarre attack is known only to him. ...

however, the article then goes on to insist it had nothing to do with a landscaping dispute, intimating the article's author knows the unknown

The motive for the assault is not of any importance to me. The idea that certain motives make the same alleged crime more/less serious is ridiculous. It is not up to the state to prove why an assault occurred - they need only show, beyond a reasonable doubt, that an assault had occurred. What I do question is whether the resulting level of injury legally matters, in other words, does inflicting broken bones make an assault more/less serious than inflicting only scrapes and bruises do?

Perhaps, but there are very few justifications for a physical assault aside from the possibility of self-defense, and "landscaping dispute" is not one of them.

I expect a plea deal that leaves the alleged attacker's medical license intact - that is how the "just us" system works.

There was serious damage done in this assault.

Paul has been in the hospital since Saturday, when he was assaulted while doing yard work.

I appreciate all of the support from everyone. A medical update: final report indicates six broken ribs & new X-ray shows a pleural effusion

The Bowling Green, Ky., neighbor who allegedly attacked Sen. Rand Paul last weekend, causing six broken ribs, was aggressively anti-Trump and anti-GOP in his social media, calling for the impeachment of the president and urging Russia investigator Robert Mueller to “fry Trump’s gonads.”

Waiting to find out how this is the KKK's fault .

I think you can pretty much answer your own question. The fourth degree misdeamor assault charge is ridiculous. It’s an assault to even spit in someone’s face. THAT, IMO, would qualify as 4th degree unless the person doing it knew he was HIV positive, for example. Breaking three or four ribs and sending someone to the hospital with even more internal injuries is NOT fourth degree assault.

If those continue to be the charges going forward, there is a coverup going on. In fact, I thought I read that the guy was motivated by Rand’s politics. Possibly the charges are being mitigated at Paul’s request in order to keep from publicizing this politically motivated violence and avoid more of same.

That would seem to me to be the most likely scenario.

I dont understand how the fact that Rand keeps up a great yard means that this can't be a landscaping dispute. I don't think you can just assume the guy attacked Paul cause he doesn't like Trump or just because he's a flaming liberal or something. But this is a LowDown thread, so the usual suspects will just keep saying whatever they want with no need for facts.

Trumpsters.. Coverups everywhere!

I agree the guy should be punished harsher than what he has been charged with, but that doesn't mean there's a coverup going on.

That's not factually correct, the article does not insist anything, but rather publishes quotes from Paul's neighbors who claim that Paul's yard was always neat and tidy so the landscaping argument simply doesn't make sense.

I've known some neighbors that were total freaks about neatness -- one who threw a brick threw a neighbor's window because a Styrofoam cup blew onto his yard, so there's a chance that Paul's attacker is a total freak, too. But, he's an anesthesiologist so he should be able to control his temper. I would not want that man monitoring my anesthesia during surgery, that's for sure.

Yea. His raging liberal ***** points of view in no way could possibly motivate him to attack a republican.

In other news...liberals cant see forests.

Agreed...I'm one of those people. One time I tried to start a natural yard initiative - basically, stop cutting your lawn and let nature reclaim, the result will be beautiful and meadow-like.

No one went along with it, so I burnt the neighborhood down. (Chill, chill, I made sure everyone was out first, I held a BBQ, and disappeared right after the food was served to do the deed).

So, I guess my question here is, who cares? Assaults happen every day, all over the place, what makes Rand so special? Let the courts figure it out.

Yes, it does. And your unavoidable shot at “Trumpsters and cover-ups” is an indication of just how warped this board’s thinking has become.

My post is thoughtful and logical. Yours is just a cheap shot at a conservative..

Rand Paul isn't any more special than anyone else, but he's a well-known public figure, which means the media takes greater interest, and so does the average citizen.

It's like the accusations against Spacey and Sheen. Were they just good old boys in a Podunk town, you'd never hear of them -- but -- they're public figures so everyone wants to chat about them.

the author writes that the motivation for the attack is known only to the attacker - and then proceeds to share with us why the attack was not related to landscaping issues
that alone causes me to question the integrity of the article

I know you think that but it's not a cheap shot. You're post was silly. You're pretending like a guy attacked a sitting US senator and there's some shadow conspiracy in the background to protect him from justice. It's conspiracy theory type thinking.

I guess...seems like slow news day content, though...we don't need tabloid coverage of politicians, things are divisive enough in the normal coverage. This very mundane issue will be used (clearly, per the OP) to spout all kinds of conspiracy theories, accusations, generalizations, and other nonsense. It's something that happened between two people, let them work it out, with the help of the cops, of course. Thought the sentence was too lenient? That's also very common. Just seems like business as usual, with a big name thrown in as the only noteworthy variable.

I never said that. I merely pointed out that there is too much assuming in this thread. Neighbors argue all the time and neighbors get into disputes all the time. Most of them aren't over politics. I've never had neighbors attack each other, but I've had them outside screaming about one neighbor cut part of the other neighbors yard that technically isn't his. This one may have been politics, it might not have been. But we can't pretend like it's a fact because the guy doesn't like Trump. 60% of the country doesn't like that fat, out of shape, orange baboon.

Rand Paul on his Twitter account posted the following yesterday.

"I appreciate all of the support from everyone. A medical update: final report indicates six broken ribs & new X-ray shows a pleural effusion
12:27 PM - 8 Nov 2017"

Also Paul tweeted links to other stories like this Washington Examiner article debunking the NYT's stating this incident was over landscaping.

Paul didn't comment on the stories but the fact that he posted links to them on his Twitter account says volumes.

Oh, brother. Sometimes I think there is no hope.

Speaking of crazy neighbors, anyone else watch Fear thy Neighbor on ID channels?

Makes me so happy I got the awesome neighbors that I do. There's some crazy ass people out there. Even if this nutter did attack Paul because of politics, which is entirely plausible, it doesn't reflect on anyone other than that guy.

Somehow an intelligent man felt empowered to become the "resistance", and "do what is necessary" to make the country right for those who believe like he does.

The media has pretty much dropped it since the attacker's belief's are in line with their own.

It's noteworthy because it's ANOTHER case of liberals using violence against conservatives. When does this stop being dismissed and start being addressed?
