It's not a crime, but it is irresponsible. If our representatives don't have ideas to solve problems what are they doing in office? The whole purpose of their position is to propose solutions to problems. I feel like more and more our representatives are simply incompetent. The United States does have a gun violence problem. If Republicans don't like the idea of lower ammo capacity firearms or stricter mental health screenings then they should offer a counter solution. I'm not saying that any solution should just be implemented for no good reason, but it shouldn't be acceptable to sit on your thumbs. If a politician believes absolutely nothing can be done about this issue they should be vocal about it. Simply saying "thoughts and prayers" and then pretending like they are being attacked because of their religion is dishonest.

That's obviously completely and utter cowardice.

This post exemplifies why the gun debate goes no where. The vast majority of gun homicide is done with a handgun in a few amount of shots by someone of sane mental health so saying things like "magazine capacity" and "mental illness screenings" is so moronic that it doesnt deserve a counter solution. If the average person cant even understand the problem how exactly can someone claim that the representatives are irresponsible?

its probably as useful (or useless) as the faith based gun control nonsense many Democrats call for in a pavlovian response to these tragedies and will be less likely to harm honest people

That would be preferable but in lieu of that there needs to be extreme vetting for availability and strong accountability for guns in circulation. We currently have neither.

what ignorant gun banners suggest is akin to trying to stop a bleeding head wound by applying a tourniquet around the victim's neck. After you edify the ignorant why their "doing something" is both worthless and harmful, and they continue to do it again, you know their real goal is not helping anyone

Stop lying. It doesn't matter if there are a million gun laws. If guns are easy to get then obviously the laws need work.

Stop whining that everyone is out to get you because of politics. Could it be possibly some don't like weekly mass shootings that could so easily be tamped down? Nooooo, it MUST be big baddie nannies out to get me!

So your response to tackling gun violence is basically that it isn't even worth talking about because most people are shot with handguns therefore proposed Democratic solutions are dumb? I don't mind if people think the currently proposed solutions are dumb. I mind when people think it isn't worth talking about. Avoiding a problem because the opposing side's ideas are dumb is definitely irresponsible, and I don't mind one bit calling that out.

That would be productive if he invoked prayer or didn't. Prayer is not relevant to being productive for that subject.
