Retraining rejected, waiting for coal jobs to return

Sure there is. But I think one can still muster empathy, given we've all been lead down the path at one time in our life or another. Given their options, I'm not sure they had a lot of options other than to believe. I can think they are dumb and feel for them at the same time, because I've been dumb from time to time myself.

I started my first job when I was 15 years of age so, I have been in the work place for over 4 decades & I have been through more employment scenarios than I care to remember

working for a living is not fun; it is a requirement if one desires to live at some modicum of comfort & security .............. I won't ever be financially rich, nor wealthy but IMO that's OK ................... my parents were both born & raised during The Great Depression so, I know what hard times are like; they passed those stories of HARD times down to their progeny ...............

I have been fortunate & I'm sure at some point in my life my good fortune will end; empathy aint gonna pay any bills .............

If you live in some remote town where the main or only employer shuts down, then how are you going to move yourself and your family? Who will buy your house in a dead or dying town? Where do you get the money to move your furniture and stuff? There are a lot of hard choices to be made, without some scumbag selling you false hope.

But what exactly remains for people in coal country? What skills does the profession of coal mining offer?

Skills in operating heavy machinery?

Knowledge of digging tunnels?

Is there any professions that connect with coal mining?
